Today’s Scripture: No one who waits for you will ever be put to shame, but all who are unfaithful will be put to shame. Psalm 25:3 GWT
Actively waiting is an oxymoron isn’t it? I realize actively waiting isn’t directly quoted here in Psalm 25:3 yet in seeking to share the supreme joy I found in the LORD this morning I came across this sense in searching God’s Word and Albert Barnes’ notes on the bible.
Why was I seeking? Because I can not quite put into words the joy the communion of the Holy Spirit and God have with me when I look to them. This “experience” is what I want to share. How do I share such a personal experience? How do I put what is spiritual into words?
I know the LORD will teach me how but until then I will continue to actively seek Him and actively wait.
Do you experience this joy when you look to the LORD? Can you share with me how you share this with others? Can I share my joy with you?
Are you actively waiting or just waiting?
Today’s Prayer: LORD God I praise You. I thank You for the communion of the Holy Spirit on my behalf. I find hope, joy, peace and strength as I look to You and wait. Teach me LORD how to share this joy You have given me. Show me Your path to blessing others with what you have blessed me. Amen

I too think of waiting as an action verb. It is an action verb in the sense that it is an absence of activity; we must have a settling of our own thoughts to the higher thoughts and actions of God. I looked up some of the definitions of waiting and I found these three: 1. To look forward to eagerly. 2. To continue with expectation. 3. To be in the position of readiness or to be reserved for. All of those are actions we must have to receive from God. Thank you Tom for reminding me to be at peace and wait on God and experience His joy!
Thank you Kimberly! Really love this and your research. Yes, waiting is an ACTION VERB and we: 1. Look forward to communion with God eagerly, 2. We continue to expectantly seek God and 3. We are in a position of readiness…All of these waiting traits draw our hearts to God in a powerful way. In that drawing there is a wonderful peace and joy!! Have an awesome weekend and thank you for your much appreciated input!!
The presence of the Lord is so hard to put into words. Sometimes we can only invite people to experience it with us. No descriptions will do!
Amen, indescribable but we have experienced it and pray others will experience it with us. Inviting is an awesome way to put it jelillie. Asking others to walk this road with us? All I can share is what I have seen, heard and experienced and I want others to experience this joy. Blessings and invitations!
Tom, My oldest sister Carolyn, told me once that actively waiting, as referred to in the Bible, was not waiting as we think of it at all. Waiting meant to prepare, like you were preparing for a great event like having the family over for Thanksgiving dinner. Getting the feast ready, all the chairs in place, the table set with the best china, the house all cleaned up, and everyone dressed up for the occasion. Or think of it like waiting for Sunday School on Sunday morning, where your waiting consists of reading the Scriptures, putting on your best clothes, and preparing yourself for worship with the Lord. If you think back years ago when we “waited” for our Concert Under the Stars. We prepared the stage, the lights and sound, others prepared the music and entertainment, and others still, prepared the tables and chairs, and everything else that went along with the event. We were all actively waiting for the event. Daily we should all “actively wait” for Christ, as you do with your morning devotional writing of this Blog.
In His Grip;

Thanks brother Bobby! I guess I needed this wakeup call for God to share this with me too. Great analogy with the concert. Have no doubt there is somthing today we can build too! We are preparing for the work He has already prepared! I pray we are active today and every day to build and be who He desires. Blessings!
Tom, Thanks for examining this principle of actively waiting for God. I like Kimberly’s added definitions of eagerly looking forward, continuing with expectation, and being in the position of readiness. This makes sense, then, that waiting on God is “active.” Yes, it’s a wonderful, joy-filled experience to look to God and wait with that kind of expectation. It’s like being part of the inner circle of the biggest cosmic secret ever, a master plan so far-reaching that no one would believe an ordinary woman could possibly know about it. I just want to tell people, “I don’t know what’s going to happen with this (whatever situation I’m waiting on), but God is ON IT, and..it’s…going…to…be…HUGE!”

Amen and thanks for dropping by Kathleen! Sorry I am a little slow in responding…moved my daughter this weekend and wore me out! Ha! YES, it is huge. Funny, most of us really don’t know what is going to happen with what we are doing yet God knows and I pray we put our hearts and souls into knowing Him and His purposes. Praying today we are actively involved! Blessings!
I was at a wedding yesterday and fell into a conversation with a fellow Christian about this very thing! How can we express the indescribable? God must show us and so we must wait upon Him that we may be drawn ever deeper into the knowledge and fear and effectiveness of the Lord!
Amen Jelillie, just being faithful to give what we do have and trust the Spirit for the right words, explanations, circumstances, miracles, healings, actions…WOW…we just be faithful to show up and God and allow God to do the describing and the fulfiling. Blessings!
