God is great!
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 70:4, ESV-May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!”
Many of us can still recall and recite the childhood blessing before our meals, “God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food.” Hopefully, that is not the last time we said God is great.
The New King James Version translates Psalm 70:4 this way “Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!” Do we magnify the LORD with the rejoicing of our salvation?
We can rejoice and be glad in the LORD regardless of our current circumstances. David was in a bad place here in Psalm 70. In Psalm 70:1 he is crying out “Please, God, rescue me! Come quickly, LORD, and help me.” (NLT) Can you relate? It is a great reminder to stop in our trials and remind ourselves and those witnessing our distress that our trust is in God because He is great!
David only needed five verses to get to the point in Psalm 70. God breathed these scriptures into Him so we too would proclaim Him in our times of need. Sometimes we may feel like David in Psalm 70:5 “But as for me, I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; LORD, do not delay.” (NIV) Short and sweet. LORD, I do love Your salvation, and I thank You for being my deliverer. God, You are great and I need you now.
We can magnify the LORD by telling everyone that our God is great!
Today’s Prayer: God, You are great! I do find rejoicing and gladness when I search for You! I am thankful for Your salvation. I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; LORD, do not delay. Save me from anything that distracts me from You and protect me from anyone wishing to cause me shame. LORD, thank You for dwelling with me and help me to dwell with You forever. Amen.
