Today’s Scripture: Luke 1:47, NLT- “How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!”
It is mind-blowing to read Luke’s account of the beginning of the gospel of Jesus. If you have not done it in a while, I am suggesting you read Luke chapters 1 and 2 for a refresher of the amazing power of God. God’s plans revealed throughout all the Scriptures are well beyond our fathoms. As Ephesians 3:20-21 states, “to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Elizabeth and Mary were expecting with John the Baptist and Jesus within their bodies. They could not possibly fathom the exceedingly abundant works that were coming upon this earth. They could not understand why God had chosen them and we cannot either. However, God will continue to bring glory by Jesus Christ for all generations.
We are a part of God’s plan. Just as Mary’s heart magnified and glorified the Lord in Luke 1:46 our souls too can magnify, glorify, and rejoice in God our savior. We must not compare; we must only glorify and rejoice. We could never be the mothers of John and Jesus, but we can give birth to God’s glory in many other ways.
Generation after generation will glorify God and we can rejoice that God allows us to be a part of glorifying Him. Like Mary in Luke 1:49, I can relate to her feelings that “the Mighty One has done great things for me.” God’s mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. We can fear Him whether an angel is gracing us with their presence or not.
God can use us to fill the hungry with good things. There are many more hungry people in this world than we would ever dream. People are hungry for God even if they are unaware. People are hungry for what we have to offer them. Me must only fear God and give what we have to offer. What we have is much needed and enough.
We must be merciful to God’s children. Others will share in our joy as we continue to share our spirit of rejoicing that we have in God our savior. Will your spirit rejoice in the Lord today so others may feed on your joy?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for making everything possible for us to glorify You for generation after generation. Thank You LORD for Your angels, servants, and miracles. Thank You Lord Jesus for coming to us, showing us Your ways, and for taking the stripes for us and dying for us. Lord, I believe that You will fulfill Your promises in me! Lord, my soul glorifies You and my spirit rejoices in You. Amen.
