Today’s Scripture: So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone. James 2:24 NLT
Do we act our faith, do we do it? Looking for action I came to James 2 this morning. Acting on our faith can be scary but it is also the place we find freedom.
We are free to act on our faith. James 2:12 says we are judged under the law of liberty. Liberty is freedom. James tells us to speak and act our faith.
We are free to give what we have. Words are shallow until acts accompany them. Giving to others welcomes faith. Giving comes from faith and faith comes from giving. Does it seem shallow at times to say “I will pray for you”? What can we do?
Do we step out in faith? Do we really live and do our faith. Faith is evident in what we do more so than in what we say.
When we do faith we find freedom and we give it away.
Let’s do it.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I love you. Forgive me for when I do not live faith. Please forgive me for when I live in the fears of the flesh instead of the fear of You. I believe You God and I want to live and do in this belief. Open my eyes to how I can do faith. I know true freedom is in You, help me to live faith freely. Amen

James is a small book but, WOW, he has the key to exercising our freedom in Christ. This book alone communicates to us the foundational plan for the experiencing the abundant life in Christ. In James 4:7 he gives us the 3 step action plan. “Submitting to God” is the first step. Unless we are under the authority of God we do not have the power to exercise our faith (living the Christian life). The second part is “resisting to Satan.” Without God’s authority we do not have the power to exercise our freedom over the temptations of the world, flesh, or Satan. Unless we do not renounce the sin temptations and or actions, and “resist” Satan aloud, he will deceive us in such a way that we will continue to act in our own strength. We must close the door, daily, to his influence in our lives. The rest of chapter 4 and 5 actually outlines the areas of our lives where we need to exercise our faith. The last verse in Chapter 5 is affirmation from God Tom of the reward of sharing the truths that truly set us free, that “any of who help direct a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”

Like it, Tom. May my faith be seen through my actions and not just in the hearing of the words I speak.
