Today’s Scripture: You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48 ESV
As a nine or ten year old I recall coming across this verse sitting in a Sunday school classroom that was set up as a green room for my entry into a children’s play. My spirit was relieved and reassured at that moment I could be perfect just as my heavenly Father is perfect.
Forty plus years later I still know that God’s perfection is in me and now more fully understand how God is all that is perfect. Here in Matthew after Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount I see that everything He called us to be is against our nature and is only possible if He is in it.
Right off the bat the first beatitude is for us to be poor in spirit; poor in our own spirit, poor in our mind and flesh. Our acceptance of our poverty and the awareness of His Spirit over ours open up His Kingdom that is perfect.
Do you believe that God’s perfection is in you?
Today’s Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for your words to us. Thank You for revealing Your Spirit that is perfect. Help me to live in Your Spirit. I know my spirit is poor and impure while Your Spirit is pure and rich. Hold me close LORD and keep the eyes of my heart on Your Spirit. Amen

I’m so impressed that you knew, at 9 or 10, that the verse was real and true for you–surely that is the Holy Spirit’s gift of “perfect faith”, great reassurance indeed. God bless you BIG.

Sis, I am thankful too that my parents had me in that place and that somehow I knew the bible would give me what I would need. I found comfort and confidence there. Not sure why I turned away for much of my life but so thankful that I find that same comfort and confidence today in so many ways from God’s Word. Blessings and perfection.

Yes Tom! Because God lives in me and through me I can walk this walk that He has called me too. When I stumble and fall He is right there with me lifting me back p and giving me strength to get back on the path!
He who began this good work in me shall be faithful to complete it!

Amen Joseph, I am thankful for God’s perfection and His faithfulness. For Him to continue to love me in my unfaithfulness I pray to live more and more in His perfection and accepting my imperfections are made perfect in Him. Blessings in His perfection.

I am constantly amazed by how God changes me when I am not looking. I always expect change but it comes in ways I could never have imagined.
