Today’s Scripture: John 14:1 ESV: “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me
I love the never ending gifts of the Word of God. All we have to do is show up. Today’s affirmation is an example of why I love searching for affirmations to claim from God’s Word. They are never ending and they are so simple yet reach deeply into our souls and remind us of what is most important today.
I came to John 14 to re-write a seven year old affirmation and read this first verse. As I saw the words “Believe in God” I knew this was an affirmation I wanted to claim. That “I believe in God”
In preparing to share this with you I was amazed as I looked through my spreadsheet of over 17,000 affirmations and my 1500 writings and I had never written on this most basic of beliefs ?? I don’t share those statistics out of pride but amazement that God’s Word will always give us fresh perspectives each and every time we show up.
And most importantly, when we do say “I believe in God” we do feel all of the troubles of the world fall away just as John promises. If we will simply believe in God our hearts will not be troubled.
Can you say “I believe in God” and replace the troubles of your heart with belief in God?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, I believe in You. Thank You for breathing Your Word into all of us. Your Word is full of treasures that are so profitable to us. Thank You for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training us in Your Word. Thank You for being with us always so we can offer Your love and strength to others whose hearts are troubled. In Your holy and mighty name I do pray. Amen
