Share the post "Affirmation of God: I cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God."
Today’s Scripture: All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 4:15 NIV
WOW! Have you ever thought about CAUSING thanksgiving? Can we get lost in our own thanksgivings so that we forget what we are to reflect and display to others?
Why has God shown His light into our darkness; to only make us personally better? Did Jesus just come to save us to be saved? 2 Corinthians 4 sheds God’s light on our purpose. When we share our stories, our testimonies to others of how God shined His light into our darkness we CAN cause others to realize it is GOD and NOT us.
As fragile jars of clay, people will see that our light can NOT possibly be from our own doings but point them to the glory of God. May we pray to cause thanksgiving as we share God’s blessings on us for the purpose of causing thanksgiving to overflow for others so they too may know the glory of God!
Are you causing thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, thank You for shining Your light into my darkness! LORD, forgive me for when I have consumed Your thanksgivings. LORD help me to share and cause thanksgiving to overflow to Your glory. I pray others see You in my thanksgivings and that I display Jesus. Amen

Wow. Cause Thanksgiving. Wow.
Thanks Julie…2 Corinthians 4 certainly awakens us to looking outward and upward and to reflect on what we are to be causing and reflecting with our thanksgivings:) Blessings and thanksgivings as you cause thanksgiving to overflow!
Tom, may I share a story with you? My sister and I were shopping yesterday at one of those huge big box stores. In order to maximize our time, she went one way, I the other. When I called her cell to find out where she was so we could meet back up, she informed me, very calmly, that she lost her credit card/membership card and was at the membership desk to quickly cancel it before it might be used. On my way, I just started praying that Holy Spirit would help me help her, and show me where it was. I didn’t know that she was already having a conversation with the people around her; they could NOT understand how she wasn’t flustered and upset. She just kept saying that the LORD would show her favor and take care of her. When I arrived at the membership desk, I asked her where she had gone so I could go look for it. She informed me that she had been all over the store. Hmmm, well, I just started walking….looked down the first aisle and was on to the next when out of the corner of my eye, I noticed something tucked 1/2 way in the CORNER of a pallet. I almost dismissed it because my sister’s card, I THOUGHT, was brown and this was white. But I felt a check in my spirit and well, you probably already know what it was. Yep, her credit card. I was so….HAPPY…SO THANKFUL. I RAN back to the membership desk and, like a child, well before I even reached it, shouted, “I found it. Holy Spirit led me right to it. Isn’t God great?” Tom, I’m wondering if I can aptly describe how shocked, and THANKFUL all the people were too…those waiting in line AND even the clerks behind the desk. Smiles on EVERYONE’S faces!!!! I’m not kidding when I tell you one woman actually HUGGED me she as so thankful for my sister!!!!! My sister and I just kept thanking and praising the Lord…giving Him all the glory and credit. I am SO sorry that this took so long to write, but I just felt it was SO apropos to this verse and your meditation. Large or small, I am committed to being thankful to the limitless blessings of the LORD! God bless you, yours, and your readers, Cindy
What an awesome testimony Cindy! Thank you for sharing how to cause others to join in your thanksgiving of giving God the Glory! How wonderful are the eyes of the Holy Spirit who, yes, guides us in ALL things. When we share the peace of trust in God as your sister did and confess our belief and experience in the Spirit of God we can rejoice and witness to all around us the glory of our LORD, our maker and the finder of the lost. Your sharing is always welcomed here. Thank you for your faithfulness. Blessings in your Spiritual journeys wherever you go, even shopping:)
For once I think I’m pretty well on track, and for that I’m most thankful. When we talk about our Lord all the time, any blindness others have is on them, not us. I pray for Him to send revelation to everyone I encounter, and I do my best to keep shining. God bless you BIG–love, sis Caddo
Somehow Sis, I do believe you have a glow about you from the Spirit who brings joy and thanksgiving. I was just speaking with someone earlier about how satan can blind us by directing our eyes to the seen and not the unseen. May we keep our eyes on the unseen Spirit of God and trust that He shows Himself through us. Blessings and sparkling thanksgivings!
I loved this post, Tom and Cindy’s story of causing thanksgiving! That was so good, so God! And I immediately thought of Caddo’s wonderful thanksgiving posts that she is doing and how it is causing us all to be more thankful ourselves! Thank you for finding us these amazing affirmations in God’s amazing word! God bless you!
Hi Debbie! I am so happy that my story touched you in some way! (I doubted myself for even sharing it and then it was SO long…so thank you for the encouragement:) Our pastor has been preaching something that has confirmed what I know to be true: we as Christians should be peaceful and full of joy (and thanksgiving) especially when our life situation is not perfect or even very difficult as many of ours can be. Then unbelievers will see what we have and want it for themselves. They will say I want that…and even come to us, inquiring about the Source of our peace, joy and thanksgiving! Holy Spirit also taught me that if I was this happy…this thankful that a lost credit card (which is really NOTHING!) was found then how ecstatic Our Father is when one of His who is lost has been found? Even His angels rejoice when one sinner repents!!!!!! (Luke 15:10) Have blessed weekend Debbie… Cindy
Thanks Cindy, may we all continue in thanksgiving to encourage and spur each other to all kinds of great works for our LORD. We trust He will guide us and show us what is good, right and true and we can share this with believers and unbelievers alike. Blessings and praise!
I join you Deb in these thanksgivings. God has called us to always be thankful in Him. I am also thankful for your confirmation and blessings of God’s Spirit as we marvel at what He does in our lives. I too pray we give God all the glory as Cindy did and sing our praises to Him today. Blessings and amazement!
