Today’s Scripture: Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; Colossians 4:2 NKJ
This scripture is directing us to be vigilant in our prayers and to be alert and watchful with thanksgiving. For three days this affirmation has stopped me in my tracks yet I could not find scripturally where I had harvested it.
As I continued today to search God’s Spirit for affirmation I find myself here again. Sometimes we don’t feel like praying do we? Sometimes we don’t feel thanksgiving. Yet we are encouraged to be vigilant. Our feelings will deceive us but our vigilant prayers will open up the windows of heaven.
In the very next verse, from prison, Paul is asking the Colossians to vigilantly pray for him and his fellow Jesus followers so that God would open doors for their message. Paul was not asking for prayers to break his chains but praying for the doors to be opened for his message of the mystery of Christ.
Are we vigilant in our prayers, thanksgivings and desire to reveal this mystery?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, I pray to be vigilant in my prayers. I pray to be alert and watchful with thanksgiving in my heart for ways to reveal Your mystery. LORD help me to reveal the mystery of Christ and I ask You to open the doors for Your message to be heard. I come to You with thanksgiving. Amen

This is so powerful Tom! “Paul was not asking for prayers to break his chains but praying for the doors to be opened for his message of the mystery of Christ.” That is the kind of faith I desire.
Thank you Ben the kind of faith, heart and passion I desire as well. I am praying now that God’s desires overwhelm our hearts to desire nothing greater than for the doors of the message He has given us to share the mystery of Christ be opened wide.
Amen
Once again, I’ve never noticed that Scripture. Wonderful Word. Vigilant!!!
Julie, I had to search a little for this. I had noted this vigilant word in an affirmation years ago. All week it stopped me yet when I went to look at my usual cross referencing tools I found no version that used “vigilant” but many used “devoted”. The vigilant version was found in a NKJ version (and there is obviously more than one). Blessings to you as we seek God’s WORD vigilantly with thanksgiving!!
Today as I was mulling over something from yesterday, the temptation was to think it “had no effect”–yet, I had prayed prior to the encounter, and am doing pretty well on the gratitude/thanksgiving thing. And God said this: “you don’t know what the eventual outcome will be, so remain in Hope, continue In ME”. God bless you BIG, Tom–love, sis Caddo
Thank you my sis for your testimony of God’s message to you. May we pray as Paul that we pray for God to open up the doors for our testimonies to share the mystery of Christ. BIG love and blessings!
