Today’s Scripture: No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
Paul was reminding the Corinthians of God’s faithfulness to His people here in 1 Corinthians 10. He began the chapter reminding them of God’s faithfulness and provision to their ancestors who wandered in the wilderness for those forty years.
Just as He provided the spiritual food and spiritual water to them He provided it for the Corinthians and for us. In 1 Corinthians 10:4 we are reminded that Christ is our Rock. The spiritual and supernatural waters that flowed to provide the needs of those in the desert still flow for us today.
The Rock that followed them continues to follow us and His waters guide us. Christ is our Rock and if we follow the flow of His waters He will provide us the way to His promises for us. As our spirits follow His Spirit we will witness God’s faithfulness.
Is your faith in a rock or the Rock?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for providing all of the spiritual food and spiritual water I need in Jesus Christ. Just as You have provided for those who have gone before me I trust Your faithfulness. LORD keep me ever mindful that You are my source and You are always faithful. Amen

Oh man Tom. I hang onto this one for dear life. Was working on a Thanksgiving sermon from Psalm 136. Over and over “His steadfast love endures forever.”

Thank you, Tom, for once again letting God speak to me through you. I was just speaking with my cousin, Cindy, the other day and she reminded me of something very similar – I do not have to be overtaken by temptation (in my case a little bit of jealousy towards someone with more than me) and that my feelings can be overcome (escaped). I do know that I can endure it all – especially with a cousin like I have and the ability to hear the Word affirmed through you.

I echo your beautiful prayer Tom, especially: “LORD keep me ever mindful that You are my source and You are always faithful. Amen” For a few years now, I have been studying the names of God (in Hebrew). El ‘Aman (Faithful God) is new to me. I found two separate blogs which teach on this attribute of God and was hoping it would be okay to share just because they really ministered to me (and who doesn’t want to share that???)
