Today’s Scripture: my eye grows dim through sorrow. Every day I call upon you, O LORD; I spread out my hands to you. Psalm 88:9 ESV
Dark days and bright days we can call on the LORD. This 88th Psalm is dark, seemingly hopeless. Surely there would be a punch line by the end of this Psalm by the Sons of Korah of God’s redeeming glory.
In this chapter it didn’t come. This chapter begins and ends in darkness. Of course, I had to sneak a peak at the next chapter in Psalm 89.
“I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever” is in the very first verse of the next chapter. I pray you and I remember this wherever we are. Whether we are in the pits of Hell or walking in the light of God’s face, we can call on Him; every day.
We may not feel the steadfast love until another chapter but we can know it by crying out to God day and night.
Do you call upon the LORD every day?
Today’s Prayer: O LORD, God of my salvation I present my prayers to You. Thank You for Your promise to hear. LORD, help me to call upon You every day. Keep me forever mindful of my helplessness regardless of my abundance or my lack. O LORD, I cry to You. Amen

This is Great, Tom. Sometimes I can’t even speak (I know, hard to believe)–but God hears the aching moans deep in my heart, through the silent distance and distant silence. And He comes quickly. God bless you abundantly this day–love, sis Caddo
Tom Raines says
Amen sis! I LOVE the scripture where we are told the Holy Spirit will communicate with the LORD when we do not know what to say. His groans/moans are such a blessing to our hearts and souls. Yes He hears the groaning of the Holy Spirit on our behalf and I am sooooo thankful of us knowing it in our hearts. BIG! Blessings sis:)

So many times I believe we read and hear the psalmist saying, “Every day I call upon you, O LORD; I spread out my hands to you,” to mean in times of danger we are to call out and reach to Jesus, much like our community 911 emergency call system. Actually, the response time in the small town of Boiling Springs is about 4 minutes. We know that Jesus response time is instant yet because of the circumstances and situations we find ourselves in when we step out on our own (like David) the process of returning does seem like a lifetime.
The psalmist explained God’s emergency plan saying, “Every day I call upon you, O LORD; I spread out my hands to you.” If we turn back to Psalms 18:30 we read, “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.” As we look at both these verses we see God’s plan. Instead of seeing God as a refuge in times of trouble we need to see his refuge as a way of life. Sensing danger, baby chicks seek refuge under the wings of their mother. If we are abiding in Christ, if we daily call to God and extend our hand to him, he will take hold of us and no one nor anything can snatch us out of his hand. As we abide in him we are constantly under his refuge and protection.
I cannot imagine living this life without the refuge we find in Him. And when I pull loose from his hand to walk independently of him, it is so reassuring that all we have to do is cry out, “Jesus, help me,” and he draws us back into his presence. And one of the greatest blessings is that as brothers and sisters in Christ we are there to remind each other “from whence our help cometh.” May each of us find the refuge we need today, as we abide in his safety or as reach out our hands to Jesus to be drawn back in. Blessings.:)

O wow, Patsy such powerful truths. His response time is instant because He is already here. Wherever we are He is already here, in us just as he promised. Our God who is in Heaven is omnipresent as He is Spirit and He is truth!! Living with Him, in the shadow of His magnificent wings is our refuge, our dwelling place. You are so right, we are to live with Him. If we abide in Him, He abides in us. What a glorious truth that I pray we continue to encourage each other of His truths forever. Blessings abiding!
