Today’s Scripture: 1 John 1:3, CEV- “We are telling you what we have seen and heard, so you may share in this life with us. And we share in it with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.”
Sometimes we forget our “whys.” Why do we do what we do? 1 John 1:3 is why I continue to write and share. I write, so that others can experience what I experience. I have experienced grace, peace, hope, and inexpressible joy. I am doing my best to express the inexpressible joy that Peter wrote about in 1 Peter 1:8.
When John was writing this first letter of John, he was showing his credibility to his audience that he had been there with the Christ. He had firsthand experience of seeing, hearing and being touched by Jesus. What is our firsthand experience?
Where is our credibility? Do we stand on what we know about Jesus, or do we stand on what we have experienced in Him? Detractors and unbelievers can debate all aspects of the Christian faith as far as authorship, accuracy, and truth. However, our experiences are real and personal and cannot be debated. This is not about convincing others about God and His Son, this is about sharing our life experience.
1 John 1:4, NKJV states “And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” I am writing this so your joy may be full and complete. I am finding that the only way to improve upon having full and complete joy is to make sure others also experience this joy. We are more complete when we know that others are also living in the complete and full love of God.
I have found complete joy, and it is not impacted by any circumstances of life. Circumstances change, people change, the world changes but the joy of God is forever and complete. I must share this joy. What have you seen and heard in Christ?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for touching me. Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the Holy Spirit. I am thankful for the joy, grace, and peace You have given me. Help me to proclaim to others what I have seen and heard. Use my life Father God to give evidence of You that gives life, grace, joy, and peace to those who believe and hope in You. In You, LORD, my joy is complete. Help me to share You. Amen.
