Today’s Scripture: John 16:24 ESV- Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
God reveals the fullness of His joy. Jesus shared with His disciples here at the last supper a joy they yet understood. Have we come to know the fullness of His joy?
These chapters in John recounting the last days of Jesus’ time on earth are heavy and full. Rereading the sequence of events we experience a full range of emotions. Bewilderment, comfort, fear, promise, confidence pain and yes joy.
Jesus promised His disciples in John 16:20 that their sorrow would turn to joy. So will ours. Not a light yippee fleshly joy but a deep, full joy filled with the love of Jesus, His Father and the Holy Spirit.
Today I rejoice in the fullness of Jesus’ gift to us. I have peace knowing Jesus overcame the world. I am compelled to glorify God and this gift by accomplishing the work He has given me to do.
Because of Jesus, I know God and my joy is full. Do you know the fullness of God’s joy?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Son Jesus Christ. Because of His life and His death I have come to know You. You are the one true God who loves me. In Jesus’ name I ask You to use me as You will. My joy is full in You and I want to accomplish the work You have given me. Please guide me with Your Spirit to share Your joy with the world that does not know you. Amen
