Today’s Affirmation: I cry out to God in my troubles and He saves me.
Sometimes, many times, I am overwhelmed by the word of God. I read scriptures and pray for these affirmations to be placed on my heart. I read a scripture that SCREAMS at me with a new wonder, only to go to enter into my list of affirmations and see that not only have I captured it before but even written a blog about it. Two things happen here:
A. My lack of memory scares me.
B. God’s message being so new and fresh as if I am being given a new revelation from God Himself blows me away.
Secondly, I can come across a scripture and think HOW DID I MISS THAT BEFORE? Yes, God’s word is living and made fresh each and every day!! In going back to Lesson 1 in the Celebrating Recovery Step book, there is a reference to Psalm 107:13 where this affirmation comes from today: “In their distress they cried out to the Lord. He saved them from their troubles.” (God’s Word Translation)
OMG folks. PLEASE READ PSALM 107 EITHER RIGHT NOW OR RIGHT AFTER YOU READ THIS MESSAGE. I pray it touches you as much as me. I do not recall being brought to tears by reading scripture before but God’s wonder and goodness is bringing me to tears as I review this beautiful chapter!
Verse 1: “OH, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” He is good! Can you give thanks?
Verse 5: “Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them.” Ever been this weak where you needed God so badly?
Verse 9: “For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.” Do you feel the longing? He DOES fill the hungry soul. Thank God… Are you hungry?
Verse 43: “Whoever is wise will observe these things, And they will understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.” Are looking and seeing what God is doing?
God’s love is overwhelming at times. Please let me know what you see and experience when you read Psalm 107. Cry out He will save you.

How delightful that His Word is alive…like you, I just marvel at the freshness of the scripture.
I think crying out to God in my troubles has been a big part of the foundation of my faith. He’s there for me. Not always like I would want Him to be, but always He’s with me. Looking back on these times gives me hope and faith in Him.
I’m overwhelmed too Tom…
Thanks Robin. I have been traveling with work and out of sorts on my blog. Thanks for chiming in and it was great to hear from you. I for one will be really happy when you come back from your July exhile. You have been missed. God is amazing and just this morning when I was on my knees He once again gave me a glimpse of the overwhelming nature of His Holy Spirit. Great to be able to share!
