Today’s Scripture: Exodus 15:1, NKJV- “Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying: “I will sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!”
I love how the majesty of God is revealed to us when we bow before Him and pray through each part of the prayer that Jesus gave to His apostles. The Spirit of God directs us towards the LORD. As we lift our prayers towards our heavenly Father, we are reminded of His words to us.
This morning, God’s Spirit reminded me of a question that crossed my mind during my reading yesterday in Revelation 15:2-4. We are told that those who had overcome the beast were singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.” (NKJV)
I wondered to myself, what is the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb? So after my quiet time with God I went superspiritual and Googled what these were. The song of Moses is from a story most of us remember. Beginning in Exodus 14:31 we are told “And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.” (KJV)
Like the Israelites, I have come to believe the LORD because I too have witnessed how God works. Out of their thanksgivings to the LORD who saved them right before their faces by splitting the Red Sea and giving them victory over Pharoah, they sang to their LORD in Exodus 15:1-21. If John was reminded in his vision in Revelation 15, one thousand years after they sang this “song of Moses,” these words are still our song as well almost two thousand years later.
Exodus 15:1 tells us, “Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying: “I will sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!” (NKJV)
The way my mind is wired now, I immediately saw an affirmation, “I will sing to the LORD.” Because I prefer the power of affirming things as they have already occurred, I captured the affirmation “I am singing to the LORD.” Then over the past year or so I have found my mindset and heartset have changed to speak directly to my LORD which brought me to today’s affirmation. “LORD, I am singing to You.”
In the eyes of this world what I do is not affirmations at all because I desire to manifest what God commands for us and not what I, in the flesh, desire. Continuing Moses’ song, I find affirmations in Exodus 15:2 as well. “The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.” (NKJV)
- You LORD are my strength and my song.
- You LORD are my salvation.
- LORD, You are my God.
- LORD, I am praising You.
- You LORD are the God of our fathers, and I am exalting You.
There is just no end to our God’s revelations. I am praying we all seek the words of the song of Moses and the Lamb together. Will you sing the song God places on your heart today?
Today’s Prayer: God of Moses, You are my God. Thank You for Your commands that bring us back to You. Thank You Holy Spirit for guiding our hearts and minds to our heavenly Father. Great and glorious is Your majesty. In You will we sing forever. In the name of the Lamb we do pray. Amen.
