Today’s Scripture: Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. Genesis 5:24 ESV
Yesterday I was challenged by my pastor during worship. I am challenged today by faith.
I have recently worked through the first 45 chapters of Genesis and yet here was a critical message of Enoch back in chapter five lost in all the “begats”. Enoch walked with God. Yes, that is a period after that statement. After review I found that I wrote an affirmation over two years ago that stated “I desire to walk with God.”
I have learned that walking with God takes faith and not desire.
Desire presents a future hope, a future walk. Faith allows us to walk NOW, today. Enoch and Noah didn’t desire to walk with God, they did. I boldly proclaim today that I walk with God. Only God and complete faith in Him makes this happen. In faith and in walking with God we experience His pleasure.
Will you walk with God today?
Today’s Prayer: Father God I believe in You. I have faith in You over all things. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your teachers that draw Your Word out to us. Thank You for Your servants who walked with you and showed us the way. LORD, I walk with You. I trust You in this walk and do not lean on my understanding or my desires. I walk with You. Amen

Excellent word, Tom. There’s “desire”, and then there’s “commitment”. Unfortunately, for most of my life I didn’t have commitment, and precious little desire either. Happy to say, that’s turned around–and my joy and excitement are pretty much indescribable. I can never get over how faithful God is–that He watches some of us walk away time and time again, discouraged, tired, even badly wounded–but He never takes His eyes or His hand off us. He loves and cares for us, and He waits till we’re ready to come back, or “catch a clue” (“revelation”). When I caught the revelation in Mar 2011, that was it–I made my commitment, and it’s my desire and intention to stick to it–I have faith that He will help me, as that’s His desire and His promise to us. Hallelujah! God bless you BIG, brother!
