Today’s Scripture: In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. Luke 10:21 ESV
These were the words of Jesus, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,”. Can we say anything less? Jesus was rejoicing in the Holy Spirit, shouldn’t we do the same?
Jesus was giving His thanksgivings to God here in Luke 10 as He was speaking to those He had sent out to spread the gospel. They had just returned and were amazed in the miracles they could perform in His name.
His thanksgiving was also a warning to them to keep their thanksgivings in heaven and not in what they could do here on earth. Although blessed, do not be thankful in the blessings but be thankful to the Father, the Lord of heaven and earth the source of our thanksgivings.
May we be reminded today to be thankful in the Lord over our thanksgivings of things here on earth.
Are your thanksgivings directed to our Father in Heaven?
Today’s Prayer: I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. I rejoice in Your Holy Spirit for who You are. You LORD are the source of thanksgiving. I offer my thanksgivings to You. Thank You for giving us the miracles of Jesus and the ability to perform Your miracles. I keep my thanksgivings in You. Amen

Tom, I love this holiday and think we miss the boat when it comes to be thankful the rest of the year. I am going to declare next year as my year of thanksgiving and do an in-depth study on it and will start with these verses. Thank you for sharing this as it has brought me a sense of joy for all that God is and all that He does. May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving!

I am with you Deborah Ann, i am going to continue on this thanksgiving theme for a while. But, i work out of town most of December that limits my posts historically but praising Him and seeking His word and promises of thanksgiving. I pray for His message to be made clear through you! Blessings and thanksgiving!

Great point, Tom. I am thankful most of all for His incredible love and salvation–everything else is “just gravy” (which I Love, of course!). God bless you and your family so BIG today, Tom–much love, sis Caddo

Thanks Sis, Blessings! I am in my craziness stretch with my job and have limited access…pray you are well!
Caddo says
Praying for you as you run the craziness stretch! What kind of work do you do? Just curious sis.

Thank you Sis, flew back home from Illinois last night and beginning my Georgia sale. I am in the school fundraising business (which is crazy enough) but one of my job responsibilities is to put on seasonal warehouse sales where we sell our overstock inventory. The gift wraps, jewelry, etc you have probably seen that students sell to raise money for their schools. Just a lot of hours setting up and running these sales takes me away from my normal routines. Blessings and prayers!

Thanks for sharing, Tom–that sounds interesting, as I appreciate anyone who’s involved in education–even on the fundraising end. But I imagine it’s hard to be away from home and “routines”. Knowing that travel is part of your work, I’ll remember to pray especially for your safety and sustenance when you’re on the road. God bless you BIG Always–your extra sis who loves you, Caddo

Love this….”and revealed them to little children.” Whew! That’s big! Thank you for today’s post and every other one. They always say so much in such few words. That’s a gift.
Tom Raines says
Julie, thank you sooooo much. You bless me more than you know. God uses you to encourage and strengthen! I praise God and ask Him to use the gifts He has given us so we can make His message clear! All provision and glory is His. I am in my annual warehouse sale craziness so will probably miss a bit as I do most Decembers…blessings and thanksgiving!

This is a really good thought Tom. Too often when God does a miracle we make a god out of the miracle and put our reliance in it rather than in the One who accomplished it.
