Today’s Scripture: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
Do you have hope in your future or do you expect what God expects? I have traveled quite a ways this morning in just this one verse. In reading the various translations of Jeremiah 29:11 my spirit is challenging me with hope and expectation.
The translation I have known for years is “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
I had full intention of affirming that God gives me a future and a hope. Yet the King James Version hit me in a different place of an “expected end”. While hope is wonderful and we will always have it in the LORD, expecting takes us to a different place doesn’t it?
In times of hardship our hopes may be shaken yet trusting God we can EXPECT to fulfill His hope for us.
Do you expect to fulfill God’s expectations of you?
Today’s Prayer: LORD God, thank You for thinking of my future and for having expectations for me. I know you will fulfill the future You expect. When I am weak and tired I rely on Your expectation and I find hope and my future there. Thank You for Your Word and Your expectations. Amen

I think of this scripture everyday. Thanks Tom!
I have said a variation of it to my kids often and was blessed to see it come back to me when I read it on one of my son’s scholarship applications, “His plan for us is better than any plan we would ever imagine.” (Maybe they do listen to me!)

Amen Katy, such a powerful promise for God!! Wow, awesome testimony of feeding God’s word to our children so that it is written on their hearts. What a legacy you have given to your son that he will cling to this great verse forever!! Blessings and promises!

I haven’t read that before, to give you an expected end. 🙂 So that is giving me a lot to think about and agree with Him about today! God bless you, Tom, as you trust in Him to help you meet all His expectations of you!
