Today’s Scripture: I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD. Psalm 116:17 ESV
I almost skipped Psalm 116 today because I had so many affirmations already captured here from previous visits. After capturing numerous more promises of God I was feeling His bountifulness. Amazing is our LORD when we come to Him.
By the time I had read “call upon the name of the LORD” for the fourth time in this passage I recalled that Spiritual question that had popped into my consciousness as I prayed earlier. “Why do we call on the name of the LORD instead of just calling on the LORD?”
I can not possibly cover this in a short blog but I do know that calling upon the name of the LORD is bountiful and will save our souls among a God-size list of other blessings.
LORD I offer You a sacrifice of thanksgiving and I call upon Your name; do you?
Today’s Prayer: I love You LORD and I praise You! Forgive me for when I do not call on Your name. Teach me LORD Your meaning of calling upon Your name. Thank You for allowing me to call and for hearing me. Thank You for Your mercy and Your love for me. I am calling upon Your name LORD. Amen

Hi Tom! I’ve been struck lately by all the times the Bible mentions “the Name of God”. Surely that is significant, for it to come up so often–there is Power in that Name, and Glory, Reverence, Worship, Mercy, Love…… God bless you today, BIG of course! love, sis Cj
Amen, it definitely struck me in my prayer time with Him and then I saw it. Certainly must be significant and studied. The little I researched this morning I found it interesting that in Acts it is promised that all who call on the name of the LORD will be saved. We can do it whether we understand it or not. BIG blessings!
I’m with you brother Tom, and I find that Acts promise Very reassuring, encouraging. Faith isn’t about “understanding” every jot and tittle–our part is simply to Believe and Receive, let the Holy Spirit work out the rest. Wonder if we’ll have “class” up in Heaven, so everybody can ask God all their question, and we’ll finally get an answer that none of the denominations can argue about anymore… See you!
Amen sis, so glad we don’t have to understand! Looking forward to the teachings of God!! Thank you. Blessings and see you in class:)
Loved this , Tom, and joining you in calling on His name! What a beautiful and simple thing that we can do, anywhere, anytime. Thank you and God bless you!
Thanks Deb, I so love joining you in calling on His name! Blessings and callings!
