Today’s Affirmation: In You, O LORD, I put my trust.
How I have come to love David’s heart. This affirmation comes directly from Psalm 71:1 where David says: IN You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame. (NIV) There is such realness in his Psalms that seem to touch my soul.
Here in the 71st Psalm I see that we can relate to David. While we can boldly say: IN YOU, O LORD, I PUT MY TRUST;…there is this semi-colon. Ok David what are you going to add to that? And it seems as if, like us there is this other part of fear, doubt, reality or trepidation that he mumbles under his breath.
IN YOU, O LORD, I PUT MY TRUST… then under his breath and his hand partially covering his mouth he says Let me never be put to shame. Although David loved the Lord and sought Him with passion he knew the reality of life. Things like our nature, our world and our enemies. Just because we put our trust in God, it doesn’t mean there aren’t challenges.
Verse 2: David asks God to deliver him, help him to escape, to listen to him and save him.
Verse 3: David asks God to be his strong refuge, his rock. To this rock he says he is always welcome and he can continually come. Some how society has attempted to make us feel weak if we have to run to God. Not so fast, God is our rock and our refuge and we can run there all the time, thank God. Here is found strength and not weakness.
Verse 5: For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth(NKJ). That God most of us were taught as children and left to find our own way, He is still our hope. Run back to Him, you are ALWAYS welcome. HERE YOU WILL FIND HOPE!
Verse 8: Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day. (Niv) Because you are my hope O LORD, because you delivered me, because you gave me a way to escape, because you are my rock that I can run to continually…
I will praise you with my voice and give you the Glory all of my days. You are so incredible, so majestic and beyond my comprehension. Where else can I put my trust?? Where else can I run??
I love you Lord, I praise you and give you all the glory. May I share your glory with those today who have left the God of their youth or who have not experienced your grace!
Is your trust in HIM? Really?
May God Bless you today!
