Today’s Affirmation: I cry out to You God and You answer me; You make me bold with strength in my soul.
Man, I love how David cries out to God, don’t you? In Psalm 138:1 David says He praises God with his whole heart and sings praises to Him before all other gods. This daily affirmation comes from Psalm 138:3. After David praises God He acknowledges that when He cried out to God He answered Him and made him bold with strength in his soul.
In his soul… We are talking about an inner strength and boldness that can only come from deep in the soul. A confidence that only God can give. Yes, I cry out to you dear God. Thank you for answering me and showing me David’s words here. In these words I feel bold with strength in my soul.
How I have grown to love David. As a non-fiction reader and non-musical person, for many years I kind of discounted Psalms as just poetic and not as “scriptural” somehow. Where did that come from? Straight from the pit as I sure have missed out over the years of praising God with my whole heart. One of the blessings of these daily affirmations so far has been the sharing of music that friends have provided. My heart is beginning to sing (you wouldn’t want to hear it, ha!)
Oh my Lord, You are an awesome Lord. If you are reading this listen to me now. I just wrote this preceding paragraph without going back to Psalm 138 to read more of David’s words. God is awesome. I was thinking of how thankful I was that God answers through David’s word and well, just confessed my new found love of praising God in music. Turn to Psalm 138:3-7. Is the word of God living? Do words from so many years ago live and breathe in us today?
Verse 4 says: Give thanks for His words….. Can you do that?
Verse 5 says: We will sing of the ways of the Lord…..Do you feel like singing?
Verse 6 says: The Lord is exalted….Can you praise Him?
Verse 7 says: Though I walk in the midst of trouble you revive me…Do you believe He will revive you?
God and His word are so awesome. I want to give thanks, I want to sing, I want to praise, I know He will revive me from my troubles and give me a boldness and a strength in my soul only He can. Gotta go praise Him…have a great day!
