Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 30:19, ESV- “Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.”
God was restoring His people in the days of Jeremiah. God is still the source of restoration. John Baker, in Lesson 1 of Celebrate Recovery referenced Jeremiah 30:17 where God promised the Israelites, He would bring them back to health and heal their wounds. God still brings us back to health and heals our wounds today. In Jeremiah 30:2 God told Jeremiah to write down everything He told him.
As we record our experiences others too can experience God. We can serve the LORD with the songs within each of us. Dr. Wayne Dyer was attributed with saying “Don’t die with your music still in you.” My personal writings have served as a journal and my song for over fifteen years. Although I cannot sing, I do have a song that comes out of me. I know you do too.
God is faithful to provide our daily bread of nourishment and experiences that cause songs of thanksgiving. The Maker of all things is the only source of peace, security, and songs within us. Jeremiah 30:11 promises that God is with His servants, and He will save us. God will destroy evil, and although we will be disciplined and punished for our own turning away, God will restore us.
When reading God’s Word, we hear His timely messages for each of us. I write out of the thanksgiving of the health, healing, and saving grace I have found in prayer and God’s Word. The first time I wrote on Jeremiah 30:19 was around Thanksgiving holiday of 2010. I had the thought to do a search of thanksgiving scriptures but then I felt compelled to be content and simply stick to my daily reading of my One-Year Bible. I stayed true to the path God had me on. As I read that day’s readings and tripped over Jeremiah 30:19 my mind did one of those double takes as it took me a moment to realize what had just happened. “Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.” (ESV)
Wait a second, I thought, there is the word thanksgiving, and I did not even have to search for it. It is right here, right where God already had me. Is that too weird? Is that a coincidence? Believe what you will but for me I felt then and still feel now the rejoicing and thanksgiving that spill out of me. This writing is my song that is coming out of me, and I am praying God multiplies His thanksgivings.
Thanksgivings continue to spill out of me because of the hundreds, if not thousands of times that God’s amazing voice and “coincidences” in His Word and His Spirit have met me right where I am. We can trust that God has us right where He wants us in our prayer, bible reading, and life. Do you ever wonder how many times we have gone looking for things where God had it for us right where we were?
I can often hear the voice of Earl Nightingale in my head as he retold the story of the lectures of Dr. Russell H. Conwell entitled “Acres of Diamonds.” We must consider that each of us at this moment are standing in the middle of our own acres of Diamonds or standing in the middle of God’s perfect will for us.
Can you find thanksgivings where you are? God reminds us in Jeremiah 30:22: “You shall be My people, And I will be your God.” (NKJV) That truth alone is enough to pour out thanksgivings, will you sing your song?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, we come to You in prayer and thanksgivings. Thank You LORD for restoring us and speaking with us. We are Your people, and You are our God. Out of us come songs of thanksgiving. Help us LORD to record everything You speak to us so we can continue to provide the hope, restoration, and security found only in You. Please receive and multiply our thanksgivings to feed Your sheep. Amen.
