Today’s Scripture: And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly inJerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith. Acts 6:7 ESV
We are an impatient people aren’t we?
I have traveled back four and half years to my last devotion before I admitted I was an alcoholic. I was amazed that Oswald Chambers reading for that day was “The Enormous Leisure of God”. Little did I understand my life’s path. God’s leisure is so enormous we can not understand it. Oswald Chamber’s example was Moses who knew he was the man to deliver his people but he was sent into the wilderness for forty YEARS.
Looking back on where God has brought His people, there is time. Lot’s of time and lot’s of time for His Word to increase. Even Jesus Himself we are told in that gap between when he was twelve years old in the temple until beginning His public ministry at the age of 30 that he continued to grow in wisdom and stature.
Can we trust that we are growing too? Can we continue to worship God and allow His Word to increase in us? Yes, I believe we can praise Him and seek His Word daily and it will increase in us and in our abundance we can increase others.
How has God’s word been increasing in you?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, I can not grasp your ways over these many years. I can only trust You and Your timing. Please continue to increase Your Word in me and use me in Your perfect time. Fill me Lord so I may help provide increase. Amen

“Increase in me!” — wow, that is a prayer I want to have more regularly. Thanks for the reminder, Tom.
Amen Dustin, thanks for dropping my…May His Word increase my brother!
Hey Tom–Just wanted to share an excerpt from TODAY’S meditation from MY Oswald Chambers devotional: “…Anything that has even a hint of dejection spiritually is always wrong. If I am depressed or burdened, I am to blame, not God or anyone else. Dejection stems from one of two sources–I have either satisfied a lust or I have not had it satisfied. In either case, dejection is the result. Lust means, ‘I must have it at once.’ Spiritual lust causes me to demand an answer from God, instead of seeking God Himself who gives the answer…” Have a blessed day, Cindy
Thank you Cindy for sharing this! I love that “Spiritual lust causes me to demand and answer from God, instead of seeking God Himself who gives the answer” that is POWERFUL. Thank you. Oswald’s wife published all of these from notes from his sermons…what will we leave behind?? Blessings my sister!
One of the hardest things for me to learn was that it’s not our timing but God’s timing. I pray for the Lord to help me grow in wisdom.
He is for sure Cindy! At certain times it is great to look back at where He has brought us from and to see How His Word has increased and provided.
Thanks Tom! God does take His time in working salvation in us. He knows what He is doing and He knows we are but dust. To much glory at once and we will certainly be blown away!
Blown up for sure Jelillie! You are right, He knows exactly what He is doing and we just have to trust Him and welcome what he Knows we can handle. Thanks for dropping by.
