Today’s Scripture: Haggai 2:19 NLT Tyndale: “I am giving you a promise now while the seed is still in the barn, before you have harvested your grain and before the grapevine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have produced their crops. From this day onward I will bless you.”
I had to read that verse again. What strength, what peace, what joy to know that when we are doing what the LORD has called us to do He promises a good harvest.
Really, I have to laugh. I have been meeting with a friend recently just knowing that God will use each of us to begin living our lives completely for the LORD. We have discussed the before and after picture of our lives. The line has been drawn in the sand. We even said that we should take a before and after picture. This is what my life looked like before beginning this new life.
Here in Haggai, I stumbled across these words: “So think about this from now on-consider how things were going for you before you began to lay the foundation of the LORD’s temple. Haggai 2:15. Go ahead and read verses 16-20. Does it resemble your life? It does mine. My before picture is that when I hoped for a twenty bushel crop I harvested only ten. He sent things that destroyed the produce of my labor because I refused to return to Him.
I tried it the world’s way. Here He is saying, return to me and I PROMISE YOU, before your seed even gets out of the barn, I will bless you. Return to Him and begin His work He has given you. Zechariah 4:10 says “the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.”
Let’s begin today! The LORD is rejoicing and promising us His blessings.
Today’s Prayer: Almighty LORD. I am amazed by Your Word. I am amazed at Your love for me. Thank You for Your vision and Your promises to me. I return to You LORD and accept the vision You provide. Help me to be silent before You and to see clearly what You will have me see. I believe and accept Your promise. Amen
