Today’s Scripture: Therefore, rid yourselves of everything impure and every expression of wickedness, and with a gentle spirit welcome the word planted in you that can save your souls. James 1:21 ISV
This first chapter of James works me over. There are only 27 verses yet I have over 100 affirmations that draw my heart to God.
Is it because of all of my impurity and filthiness that I desire to rid myself of? Is it because of the hope I have in the word that can save me? Is it because of the comfort I find in knowing that God himself implants His word in me?
So many questions, so many promises and so much hope are here. James does not question whether we have impurity and wickedness but just instructs us to turn away from them and humbly accept the word God has placed in our hearts.
I am thankful for God’s generosity. I do count all of my trials and battles with joy knowing He is perfecting me. I know God grants me what I ask for and I know His word will save me to do what he desires.
What do you think will save your soul?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for the word You have placed in me. Please forgive me for when I turn to my desires over Your word. I ask You for wisdom and strength to become pure. I know all of my hope is in You. Thank You for loving me enough to draw my heart to You. Help me to be a doer of Your word. Amen

Thank you for this powerful Affirmation, Tom!
I agree the Book of James is rich with soul refreshment!
Beloved Father, I praise You for the Word You planted in me;
May my thoughts, words and actions ever bring You glory!
Rid me of impurity, of anything that does not shine of You;
May I nurture only that which is good, only that which is true.
I love You and Your Word, Jesus, and it is for You I do live;
You are the Giver of all that is good, so to You my life I give!
May God bless your heart for Him! So grateful to co-labor with you in Christ! 🙂

Tom . . .I hadn’t read that verse for awhile and it really hit me too! Praying that I stay in His word faithfully so that I know to turn to it, that it is what I need and what He has made available for me at all times. God bless you as He implants His Word in you today!
