Today’s Scripture: One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.
Do we seek after and pursue God? In those dark moments or our dark prayer closets at times we need to truly seek; to gaze with our hearts for the beauty of the LORD.
At times we do not feel it but we can seek after the LORD. One of the quickest ways to feel it is to gaze upon His beauty. The beautiful things He has done that we know we have no influence at all. Seek to remember who He is and what He has done.
There in the seeking we do find. It doesn’t always come easy yet always there when we seek with all of our hearts, all of our minds and all of our souls. If we ask, the Spirit within us will help us find Him and to dwell with Him as we gaze upon His beauty.

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father I praise Your name. I ask You to help me to gaze upon Your beauty and to seek after You. LORD I am seeking after You. I only want to dwell with You. Please forgive me for when I seek other things over You. Thank You for showing Your beauty in the light of Your Spirit. Amen

Seeking the Lord for me almost always has to involve a time of silent study and refocusing before I go into prayer. If I do not spend this time (which doesn’t feel much like prayer but more like waiting around for a bus) I find my prayers directionless and the voice of God very far away.
Joseph, thank you for sharing and I too have found the combination of prayer and scripture reading to bring the voice of God alive. Interesting that our practices are opposite as I am in prayer first and then go to the Word. Great lesson that regardless of our order He is faithful to reveal Himself. It is not how we do it but Who He is. Yet, if we go to Him in prayer and seek His commands we “hear” them. Blessings as you seek.

For me, seeking means porch parties every morning, and my own quiet time. It means so much prayer as I write. It means coming back to Him over and over and saying, “Help me, Lord. I need You.”
