Today’s Scripture: I Chronicles 16:34 NIV: Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Thanks “GIVING” feels different than being thank “FULL” doesn’t it?
My life experience is in line with what was promised in Colossians 2:7. As my roots have grown into God I have become overflowing with thankfulness. Yes, I am thankful but giving thanks is another level.
When I struggle to get where I need to be in prayer just stopping and giving thanks and praising God seems to put me where I need to be to be. Giving thanks every day in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18) will help keep us where we need to be in our living as well, don’t you think?
Can I “give” thanks to others? Can I stop for just a moment to give thanks to those who I love and to those who cross my path? I feel God’s word compels us to give thanks and to make our daily lives one of thanksgiving.
I give thanks now for you taking a moment to read this and for what you do. I also am giving thanks for what God will be doing in your life as you give thanks.
Do you feel a difference between thankfulness and thanksgiving; or is it just me?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, I give You my thanks. I praise You for being my God and my LORD. I thank You for Your mercy , Your grace and Your love. I overflow with thankfulness Father God and ask You to help me be a better thanks giver. I love You and thank You for Your many blessings. Amen

Thank you, Tom! Yet another encouraging post!
We have so much for which to be thankful, and I appreciate your distinguishing “thankfulness” from “thanksgiving.” May we freely give thanks on all occasions!
May God bless you and yours on this Day of Thanks – and every day!
Thankfully your sister in Christ,
Caroline
Thank you Caroline! Happy Thanksgiving…a little late…out of town. Blessings!
Thank you so much, Tom!
Blessings of Thanksgiving are gratefully received any and every day! 🙂
God bless you abundantly, brother in Christ!
Hey Tom! It’s not just you. At service today, my pastor talked a lot about the Old Testament saints who would make sacrifices of thanksgiving, and how we must do the same. Our sacrifices may look different than theirs (maybe no stones or burnt offerings), but we need to take the time…make the effort to offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God. Psalm 107: 21-22 was especially touching to me today. And like you again, he talked about taking the time and making the effort to offer thanksgiving to those around us, making sure we’re really noticing all the good they do…even (especially????) all the little things (that are really the big things), and then giving them thanks. I thank you Tom, it was a very happy surprise to find a post today. A wonderful end to a wonderufl day! Glory to God. Cindy
Thank you Cindy for your kind words and for sharing your worship service and the verses. I just love David’s heart and the Psalms have taken on new intensity over recent years! Blessings to you!
As Paul said to the saints at Ephesus, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Tom your writing have been a spiritual blessing to us and an act of thanks giving to God our Father. Again, we thank you for your encouraging us as we “forget what is behind, and press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us.”
Patsy I thank you for your encouragment and sharing of Paul’s words. Let’s press on and I have a special thanksgiving for you as you were my first subscriber when I started this journey and I will be forever grateful. I appreciate your continued visits when you can. I am praying now for your blessings and power! Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes, being thankful and giving thanks seem different to me. I was reading in Psalm 50 where God speaks of not needing animal sacrifices. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills but he Asks for a sacrifice of Thanksgiving. The Hebrew word here is towdah which means adoration, especially a choir of worshippers. We are His choir, we need to daily worship and adore him with our thanksgiving. Just as Jesus instructs the Samaritan woman:
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24
In Chronicles, they are being admonished to worship.
^ WE are being admonished to worship.
Thank you Kimberly for these powerful verses. Your contributions always firmly implant God’s Word with power and strength. Yes, WE are admonished to worship. What a privilege we have to sing our praises to the Almighty God who is our God and who loves us. Yes, He is worthy to be praised. Let us sing!! Blessings!
Thankful for your words today, Tom. I appreciate you!
Psalm 40:8 I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.”
The greatest worship and thankfulness we can show God is delighting to do His will … and simply delighting in Him.
