Today’s Scripture: Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind. Ecclesiastes 4:6 ESV
We have a comforter. Will be still long enough to find this comfort? Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:1 that the people had no comforter but He also tells us we will find our comforter in the quietness.
We can toil and strive and find we have no comfort. Prior to coming back to this verse today I was having a quiet time with God that was being hijacked by the multitude of racing thoughts about those things in which I toil.
Yet, it was good to give up on my thoughts and trust in His quietness. I definitely found comfort in being with Him and trusting His communion with my spirit. Giving up striving after the winds of this world and lying quietly before Him I found in my nothingness I find His everything.
For whom do we toil and deprive ourselves of God’s pleasure and comfort?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my comforter. Thank You for revealing Yourself in the quietness of being with You. LORD, You know all eternal things and I trust you over the tyranny of the urgent and the vanity of striving after the winds of this world. Thank You for showing Your love in the quiet. Amen

Thank you, Tom! “For whom do we toil and deprive ourselves of God’s pleasure and comfort?”. Now there’s something for all of us to ponder. What bits of chaff will we let steal the “gold and platinum” that is our blessing for spending time with our Jesus?
John
Amen John, ponder often!! For whom do we toil my brother. So thankful we can step away in quietness and get refocused on the gold and platinum that is given so freely to us but we often miss it striving after the chaff!! We will have to enjoy a quiet lunch together again some time soon:) Blessings and quiet!
I’m looking forward to it. Let me know when you are available.
I have an appointment in the area coming up soon so will touch base…
When it comes to being still we do struggle with it, we go about our day and many things and people will pull us from one thing to the next. And when we become so overwhelmed than we are screaming for peace, and sad thing is many people don’t know where to go to get us a peace. But for a child of God all we have to do is look to the hills where our help comes from..Psalm 121 amen
Thank you Desiray and what a great point that we can share with others where we find our comfort and our peace! Because of what God has shown us we can go and tell others and share our peace. May we continually go to where our help comes from! Blessings and comfort!
After the week I just had, I need to print this out and tape it where I can see it often. Thanks so much for the gentle lesson, brother! God bless you Big–love, sis Caddo
Sis, I am praying that you find comfort in the quietness with God. Praying all comfort and peace upon you. May God bathe over all worldly and fleshly issues we face. Blessings and comfort sis. BIG.
