Today’s Scripture: Esther 8:17 NLT Tyndale: In every city and province, wherever the king’s decree arrived, the Jews rejoiced and had a great celebration and declared a public festival and holiday. And many of the people of the land became Jews themselves, for they feared what the Jews might do to them.
This affirmation came from the Book of Esther and this particular line that many people “became Jews themselves” struck me as odd. How do we become God’s chosen people?
We can choose to be God’s. I loved Mordecai’s statements to Esther as he reminded her of two important things:
- If she kept quiet, God’s people would still be delivered from some other place. His will will be done with or without us.
- “What’s more, who can say but you have been elevated to the palace for just such a time as this?” Has God placed us right where we are now?
Is my purpose, your purpose to be His wherever we are? If we have become His then we are His PERIOD. When we are God’s (period) there are many different ways He will fill in I am God’s _________.
Are you where you are for such a time as this?
Today’s Prayer: Dear LORD, thank You for bringing me here. Thank You for allowing me to be Yours. I am Yours. Help me to know what it is You want me to do. Show me how I can help save Your people and have others choose to become Yours. Amen.

That is one of my favorite phrases in all of Scripture: “for such a time as this.” It is a good reminder to me that I am never outside of His sight and plan. Thanks for the reminder this am Tom.

Bill, that’s my favorite part too. The concept always stops me dead in my tracks. What was I created for specifically? Great post, Tom.

Seth, thank you for stopping by. He will use us and we have lived what we have lived just for this very moment…it does stop you and make you think about your now and your purpose doesn’t it?!. Thanks for sharing!

Tom, it’s interesting that you would turn to the Book of Esther for the affirmation, “I am God’s.”
The word “God” doesn’t appear in the book of Esther, nor does the word “Lord.” Interesting–a book in the Bible doesn’t mention God.

Interesting Ron. I read the “Jews”, who I gues I know God has claimed as His people and went there. Interesting, I was just saying that God will speak whether I am right or wrong. BTW, I didn’t turn there looking for affirmation, I just was already there and received this affirmation.I have learned that through the Word of God God speaks….even if I am reading wrong. Hopefully I got the spirit of what He was saying to me. I am His. Personally, I am not a detail guy so I appreciate your analytical info that I wouldn’t have ever noticed. Bless you. Feel free to chime in any time!

Good word Tom! I believe our generation is called to the kingdom for a purpose. God has hand-picked us to finish the work of proclaiming the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. I am reminded daily to be faithful to that cause. You are today’s reminder!

Thanks Jelillie! Glad to be of service and I agree and cling to the fact that we are called to the kingdom for His purpose. Proclaim on my brother!
