God’s love is amazing. His love is beyond our wildest dreams and comprehensions. The crazy thing is is that He not only loves us but has placed His Spirit of love in us. When I spend just a few minutes reflecting on His love for us I go to a different place.
This affirmation is from 1 John 4:18: There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (NIV)
Do you see God as a God of love or some great power who wants to punish you? One where you live in fear of wrath, punishment and guilt? I hear of those people that live there. I pray for you if somewhere, somehow someone sent you that message. Do people really ever send that message or is that just a tool of the evil one to turn people away from God? Not sure, but I know that the God I serve as stated in 1 John is a God of love.
If you haven’t been to 1 John in a while please go there. I was brought here this morning by Celebrate Recovery’s John Baker who is telling us to realize God’s Love liberates us from fear and anxiety.
Do you want to be liberated? Go to 1 John and be reminded that GOD IS LOVE! (1 John 4:8). I love John Baker’s explanation:
“Your fear imprisons you; your faith liberates you. Fear paralyzes: faith empowers! Fear disheartens; faith encourages! Fear sickens; faith heals! Faith in Jesus Christ will allow you to face your past fears and with faith you can be free of fear’s chains.
God’s love is perfect! 1 John 4:12 says God’s love has been perfected in us. We know this because He has given us His Spirit. How crazy is that? This God of all gods, the Creator God has put His Spirit in us. Because of this we know His love and His peace.
In addition to peace, we have confidence and boldness. We can be strong and courageous and live without fear. We can live in the power of God’s perfect love. Yes we are loved and because of this we can show and give love to others. We can share this great love and Spirit He has so freely given to us!
With this comes empowerment; the power and confidence to know that in the Day of Judgment we will have no fear and no doubt. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:17 (NKJ)
Can you feel God’s love within you? Can you reflect and share that love with someone else today? I pray we can all turn our fears over to God.
We can know we are loved no matter what and we have no reason to fear. God’s perfect love is in us.

I’m learning to live in His love a little more every day. It’s taken me so long to stop flinching in fear all the time. If I had read this post 10 years ago, I would have thought…there’s a catch. Today I breathed a prayer of thanksgiving.
