Today’s Scripture: Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you. Philippians 3:15 NLT
Do you believe God will make it plain to you? How are we looking to God and expecting Him to make things plain to us? Paul is providing powerful instructions to the Philippians, you and me.
We are to make ourselves nothing and put no confidence in human effort and boast only of what Christ Jesus has done for us. We are to discard everything else to become one with Christ. We are to trust Christ to save us. Like Paul, we strive to be all that Christ Jesus saved us for and what He wants us to be. We can say the same thing Paul did: “I am still not all I should be”. We are to focus all our energy on one thing: “Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”. We are citizens of heaven and should not think only of life here on earth.
When we know we are nothing He makes things plain. The Good News is that He will give us the desire to obey Him and the power to do what pleases Him. We can trust these desires He is giving us. They are His and they are plain. Faith in Him will give us joy. Do you trust Him? What are your desires? What gives you joy? It’s as plain as that. Trust Him.
Today’s Prayer: Father God, You are all. Help me to grasp my nothingness. Help me to embrace the desires You are giving me and to rely on Your power. I trust in Your eternal will and only look forward to what lies ahead. Please be plain with me and give me the boldness to act on Your desires and to have peace through faith. Amen.
