For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6(NASB)
“For I am confident of this very thing” Paul was confident in his letter to the church at Philippi. Are we that confident? Confident that God will complete the work He has started in us? But God you don’t understand I blew it, I got way off track here. Is the good work going to be drowned out by the not so good?
No, for I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in ME will perfect it. Do I have to understand it? Do I have to be able to get my human arms around it? Although our confidence may be shaken at times I pray we all come back to where we say…I AM CONFIDENT OF THIS VERY THING. GOD WILL FINISH WHAT HE HAS STARTED IN ME.
The rough edges that I and life have added to my story will just make it perfect. My perfect story and your perfect story. Just as every fingerprint and snowflake is unique so are our stories. Just like Paul’s statement in Philippians 1:12: And I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News. (NLT)
Everything that has happened to us will help spread the Good News. Do you think I wanted to admit I was an alcoholic? In the midst of those battles do you think that those hard years would be part of God’s perfect work in me? I am now confident that God is using that part of my life to help spread the Good News. I am also confident that whatever you are living through or have lived through will be used by God to spread this Good News. Fortunately many of you have not had to go to dark places for your story but every story will be made perfect.
For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. (Philippians 1:20 NLT).
NEVER BE ASHAMED AND I TRUST MY LIFE WILL BRING HONOR TO CHRIST.
Thanks Paul for having confidence in that very thing. Your confidence helps breed our confidence which will continue to spread the Good News. May we all continue to be bold for Christ.
Are you confident?

This is affirming to me about me but also it’s helpful when I think about my grown kids…I can spiral into discouragement so quickly as I watch one bad decision after another but He’s not finished with them either…yes, this was needed today. I’ll hold on to it.
tomraines says
Hang on. I am praying for all the things you are facing today! He isn’t finished with them or us yet. May we trust in His plan today and pray our kids choose to trust Him too!
