Today’s Scripture: As they listen, their secret thoughts will be exposed, and they will fall to their knees and worship God, declaring, “God is really here among you.” 1 Corinthians 14:25 NLT Tyndale 1996
If unbelievers come and see us will they have this same experience? As they come to our meetings will they be convicted such as these in 1 Corinthians 14? Are our meetings obvious that the Spirit of God is at work?
God is really here now with us. We should be filled with His Spirit. God can use us right now in the presence of others to change them for all eternity. He is here and He will give us what we need to show Him. I found an error in my thinking today. I do believe we have all been given spiritual gifts but I kind of thought this was something God gifted us with and not something that is dynamic and can change.
1 Corinthians 14:13 states: Since you are so eager to have spiritual gifts, ask God for those that will be of real help to the whole church. NLT So, I can ask God for gifts? Instead of just trying to figure out or find my spiritual gifts through some type of assessment, I can cry out to Him and ask Him to give me the spiritual gift that is needed that will help others know that He is really here. I think I will, will you?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, please give me the spiritual gift I need to be of real help to the whole church. You are Spirit Father and I am asking You to fill me with whatever You wish. Use me so that others will know that You are really here now. Fill me Lord and give me the gift to prophesy and encourage others Amen

God is among us – love that. Let our lives reflect that, day in and day out.

I agree Tom. His Love and our gifts are not static or exclusive. I believe we can walk in whatever spiritual gift is needed at any time. In Ephesians one it says that we are blessed with Every spiritual blessing. We all have strengths but God uses willing vessels. He equips us!
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Amen Kimberly, isn’t it so freeing and empowering to know that He will give us the spiritual gift needed at any given time! Bring Him glory with His strength and His energy…powerful stuff, thanks!!

Hi Tom — I think that is the right perspective … instead of hunting down our spiritual gift – pray for them and be open to however God may use you, and then let the Holy Spirit work through you as He wills. I think sometimes we try to hard in this area instead of trusting God to use as He desires. We are the gates by which the Holy Spirit passes and moves through. How awesome.

So awesome, I think we have been told that our spiritual gifts are something we “find” and something we were created with. I think this verse shows God makes us and uses us dynamically. Just be willing and let the Spirit move. Thanks for stopping by!
