Today’s Scripture: Psalm 100:4, NIV- “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”
Jesus freed us to enter God’s gates and courts every day. It is interesting to look back over our lives. We are often encouraged to write journals. I have never been successful at maintaining the practice of journaling in the typical way. However, my blogs have served as a public journal over the past fifteen years.
This morning, I have come across an old blog where I had written about giving thanks to God on my sixth sobriety birthdate. Here I am now, over twelve years later, continuing to give thanks to God and praising His name after celebrating my eighteenth year of sobriety from alcohol.
I have learned to give thanks and to praise God’s name in all things. I have often stated that alcoholism was the best thing that ever happened to me because this addiction brought me to my knees where I was forced to seek after God.
I recently remarried, that will be a story for another day. My new bride chose my sobriety date as our wedding day. Once again, God has proven to me His power to renew us in ways we could have never dreamed.
God has proven to me Psalm 100:5 “For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.” (NKJV) Thank You LORD for being so good to us always.
Will you give thanks to the LORD and praise His name today?
Today’s Prayer: Dear LORD, my God, I enter Your gates with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise LORD I am serving You with gladness and coming into Your presence with joy. Thank You for those You bring into our lives that help direct us through Your gates. Thank You for Your love and faithfulness. Please welcome others through Your gates drawn by our songs of joy. Amen.
