Today’s Scripture: Matthew 7:7, NIV- “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
If you could ask for anything today and know it will be given to you, what would you ask? What will you seek today?
I am thankful for each new day when I can spend time alone with God and seek what He seeks. I do not know what to ask for most days, but I do pray to live God’s will. I can be too focused on me and God’s will for my life. It is hard not to think too much about our own lives since it is all we know. I want to live for God.
My pastor keeps stressing that God is not about behavior modification but about transformation. Romans 12:2 states that “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (NKJV)
Matthew 6:33 gives us our first step; “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (NKJV) Matthew 6:32 tells us that our heavenly Father knows what we need.
God, I need You to change me. I cannot do it. I am aware of the planks in my eyes, and I need to change today. As Matthew 6:34 advises us, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (NIV) Instead of asking God, each day, what He wants me to seek and which doors He already knows I need to knock on, I need to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. God does transform our minds and lives.
I love watching birds and other wildlife. I am always reminded of Matthew 6:26, “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (NKJV) Feed me LORD, Your kingdom and will.
We are told in Matthew 6:24 that we cannot serve two masters. I only desire to serve The Master. Our Father in heaven is our master and in Matthew 6:9 Jesus said “This, then, is how you should pray: “’Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,” (NIV) In Matthew 6:11 Jesus continued, “Give us this day our daily bread.” (NKJV)
This day is today. LORD, I am asking and seeking Your Kingdom and righteousness. I am knocking at Your door.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for opening the doors of Your kingdom, righteousness, and perfect will to us today. I am thankful that You know what we need before we ask. Thank You for the gifts You give to us. Transform my mind to do Your will. In the name of Jesus, who taught us to pray. Amen.
