Today’s Affirmation: The Lord is my strength; I give Him all my fears.
Most of us have heard this verse from David in Psalm 27:1. The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (NKJV) So we have no fears and worries, right?
Whom and what shall I fear? Psalm 27:3 says “my heart will not fear”. It seems my head does from time to time. In my head what am I looking at?
Psalm 27:4 is one of my favorite memory verses: One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
All I want to do is dwell in His house and seek Him all the days of my life…why worry about what the world throws my way. Will my worry change what is happening? May I seek Him, set my gaze upon Him and know that no matter what I will cast all my fears to Him.
I will give him all of my fears of trembling and being afraid as well as the “fear” that is defined by complete love, adoration and respect. All in Him, who shall I fear? Do I fear man, death, trials, sin, and troubles? Do I believe He is my strength? My light, my salvation?
HOW do we do this? So easy to say but then the next worry comes along. The secret may be in Psalm 27: 8. My heart tells me to seek His face. Your face, Lord, I will seek.
What does the “face of God” look like? He cast the stars with His right hand. His face has to be HUGE. I am gazing God, I am looking to see your face. You are my strength, you are HUGE. Who shall I fear? I give you O God all of my fears.
- Do we worry because we don’t really think God will be our strength or are we just afraid He won’t do it as we would like?
- Do you battle worry?
- Does your heart tell you to seek His face? What do you see?
- Can you ask God to take all of your fears today so you can feel His light and His salvation?
My heart tells me to seek His face. May we live in the house of the Lord today. Just dwell there. Gaze upon His beauty and seek Him. This is all I want. Who else shall I fear?
