Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
When we are in Christ, we are a new creation. In my prayer time I was reminded to ask, seek, and knock to be who God, through Christ, has created me to be. In the following bible reading I was brought to 2 Corinthians 5:5 where we are told that God gave us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee.
In 2 Corinthians 5:13-14 we learn that “If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.” (NIV) We do our best to describe the changes Jesus has made in our lives, but it will always be the Holy Spirit who convicts those we share our new lives with.
I am convinced that Jesus died for us all, therefore I am equally convinced that each of us can be a new creation in Him if we let our old ways pass away. We do have to get out of our mind and stop holding onto the old and look to the Spirit of God to live out the creation we are in Christ.
Because Jesus Christ completed His purpose on earth, we too can complete our purpose by living the new life we have in Him. LORD, I am asking, seeking, and knocking to live as You have created me to live. I am praying for Your Holy Spirit to guide me into this new life. If our old life is gone let us turn our attention to our new lives in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 promises “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” (NKJV)
Most of us do not see ourselves in ministry but we are. Our stories of how Jesus reconciled us is now our ministry. We are fully qualified to preach of how Jesus Christ reconciled us so that we give others hope for reconciliation. We did not become new just to become new. We became new so others too will know the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Equipped with our new lives we are now ambassadors for Jesus Christ as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:20 “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” (NLT)
Today I am thankful for those who have ministered to me so that I knew it was possible to be reconciled with God regardless of the wrongs I had done. If you have experienced the new life and reconciliation of Jesus Christ, will you minister to others?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty Father in Heaven, thank You for Your Son Jesus Christ and Your Holy Spirit who have given me a new life and a guarantee to live it. I am praying now out of gratitude to Jesus Christ and to reliance on Your Holy Spirit. I am asking that Your Holy Spirit guide my prayers so that I live a new life and ministry of reconciliation. I am asking, seeking, and knocking to live as You would have me live so others too will know Your reconciliation and new life. Amen.
