Share the post "I am telling others about the great things that Jesus has done for me."
Today’s Scripture: Luke 8:39, NKJV- “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.”
We too often assume that other people will do “it.” The “it” varies but I have found that if we think of it, we must do it because, in most instances, no one else is showing up to provide what is needed.
We also must not assume that other people have recognized the great things that God has done. In both Mark 5:19 and Luke 8:39, we find the story of Jesus releasing the demons from the man called Legion.
Jesus did not tell Legion to go and preach to all others what he thinks they should do. He simply said to go back to his own house or people and tell what great things Jesus had done for him. We must do the same. No one else has our unique experiences with God so we must be confident that we have what others need. Earlier in Luke 8, Jesus told of and explained the seeds of the kingdom of God.
Each of us has our own seeds. We all experience hurts, habits, hang-ups, and times of need. If you have experienced illnesses, addictions, and even death you have a story of how Jesus and others showed up to help you. Jesus is our healer, and our testimonies are our seeds. We must also run to help others with what God has done for us.
In Luke 8:47 the lady who had been bleeding for twelve years was healed instantly when she touched Jesus’ clothing. Many people gathered around Jesus that day, but He felt His power flow to her because of her faith. We can have the faith of this woman, and the power of Jesus will flow through us. The power was not in the clothing but in her belief that if she could only touch His garment she would be healed. In Luke 8:48, Jesus told this woman that her faith had healed her.
Also, in Luke 8:50, Jesus instructed Jairus that when we believe stronger than we fear, we come to know the healing of Jesus. We do believe our own stories that have come from faith, and we can help others with what we know and have experienced. When we share what Jesus has done for us this gives others the power to believe and trust in His healing power.
As we tell our stories of the wonderful things that Jesus has done for us, others too will run to Him and be saved. Are you doing your part? No one else is showing up for you.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am thankful for those who have told me their stories of healing. I am thankful for the power of faith and believing in You. LORD, You are our healer and I am praying my story will bring healing to others. Help me LORD to choose faith over fear always. We are strengthened by the healing of Jesus, and we can help spread His power through the power of believing. Use our stories LORD to bring others to the feet of Jesus and use our feet to run to help others. Amen.
