Today’s Scripture: Luke 23:46, NKJV- “And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’” Having said this, He breathed His last.”
Jesus knew this moment on the cross was the reason for which He came. Even still, in the previous chapter Luke 22:42 Jesus said “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.” (NKJV) We can trust the will of the Father as well.
We must trust and accept Romans 8:28 where we are promised that “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” We must be committed to God and His purposes over our immediate understanding, emotions, and the opinions of others.
God, whatever Your purpose is, I am committing my spirit to You. As Galatians 2:20 states “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (NIV)
If we accept being crucified with Christ, we must commit our spirits into the hand of God and His will. Thank You Jesus for giving Yourself up for me. Help me Lord to give myself up for You and God’s purpose.
Jesus accepted the will of God so that we can. He totally entrusted His spirit into the hands of God and so can we. In John 19:30, we are told Jesus said “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” We can do the same thing right now.
Will you bow your head with me now and say, God, it is finished, I am giving up my spirit and committing it into Your hands. I am trusting You LORD for Your good.
Today’s Prayer: Father God, I love You and I am trusting Your will. LORD, I am giving up my spirit and committing my spirit into Your hands. Help me LORD for I am weak. I am trusting You, Your timing, and purpose for me. Thank You for loving us and sending for us Your only son, Jesus Christ. Jesus, thank You for taking those stripes for us and for committing Your Spirit so that we can commit ours with you. To You Father I offer up my spirit and trust you do what you will. Amen.
