What does “My soul prospers” mean to you? Prosper, prosperity of the soul, hmmm I captured today’s affirmation from 3 John 1:2: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (NKJ)
I am praying this for anyone who reads this. You are reading it so I have prayed for you to prosper “JUST AS YOUR SOUL PROSPERS”. How does your soul prosper? Have you felt prosperity in your soul? Do you recall the last time?
This is a little too personal but all I have to share is what God is doing in me. This morning in my quiet time I found myself lying prostrate before God and saying and I quote “I HAVE NOTHING”, can I just lay here with You and listen. I did and now only recall one word that came to mind and that was confidence. Confidence that the King of kings was with me there in my space and always. He reminded me that the last time I was in this similar crossroad in my life, HE provided a way. I DID NOTHING. I prayed He answered.
This morning He answered through scripture as well. I was directed to a small book in the bible this morning where this affirmation was found. Read on with me and just listen to these affirmations, I mean treasures I found in His Word in 3 John, 2 John and 1 John. Yes, I was reading backwards, go figure…
- The truth is in me. 3 John 1:3 How much more prosperity do I need?
- The truth that abides in me will be with me forever. 2 John 1:2 I am feeling pretty prosperous
- I have grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father in truth and love. 2 John 1:3 Wow, read this SLOWLY and I is YOU. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN GRACE, MERCY AND PEACE FROM GOD THE FATHER AND FROM THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF THE FATHER IN TRUTH AND LOVE. Can you feel your soul prosper?
- We love one another. 2 John 1:5 Feel the love in your soul?
- My joy is full. 2 John 1:12 My soul is prosperous with joy.
- I have eternal life. 1 John 5:13 All debts are paid and I am prosperous beyond this life!
- My confidence is in Him. 1 John 5:14. There’s that confidence word He spoke to me in my prayer.
- He hears me. 1 John 5:14 Wow, isn’t that cool? The LORD of Lords hears you!
- I know Him. 1 John 5:20 Do I need anything else? My soul prospers.
What a morning and what a way to start a day. I could lay there empty with NOTHING to bring to the table yet He shows me in His word that I have all the prosperity I need in Him. Hasn’t He promised us? Why would I seek prosperity in any other place? It makes no sense, yet we do it day after day. God thank You for being in me and living in me forever. Thank You for Your grace, mercy and peace, Thank You for Your love and Your joy. I thank You God for eternal life and the confidence to recall your promises and remember your free gifts to me. Thank You for hearing me. Yes, God I know You and my soul prospers. So, how does your soul prosper?
Today’s Prayer: My Father in Heaven, I praise and treasure Your name. Thank You for and Your Holy Spirit for coming together for me. In my emptiness I experience Your prosperity in my soul. When My soul only looks to You it is only then I know true prosperity. Please continue to forgive me when I look away. Draw me in LORD, Keep me close and continue to enlighten my soul. In You I am prosperous. Amen

Christian Affirmations 4 Life
Brother, these are gut wrenching times – yet we know where our hope comes from. It comes from our Lord. It the midst of angst and turmoil, my soul does prosper. It is so hard not to worry about tomorrow, but we have faith and trust in God. Father ~ I pray for each child of yours to feel prosperous in spirit, and rest assured that You will provide for us!
Amen, thanks sis! He will be faithful and we shall be faithful. He knows all our needs more than us and I pray we have the ears to hear and the confidence to act in accordance to His kingdom and His will.
I would answer that my soul has been too thirsty lately to really prosper, but that is me not seeing the forest for the trees.
My soul prospers in my relationships, my failures, my successes, and in being known by our God on a first-name basis. And, quite truthfully, my soul prospers in some of the acquaintances/friendships I have made in this barren wasteland known as The Internet.
God is funny like that.
Donald, that reminds me of a scripture Psalm 63:1 (thanks google) O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
May we thirst for Him and may He satisfy our thirsts….even here on the internet. May this thirst never be quenched but may it continue to draw us to Him. May our souls be overwhelmed with His prosperity! Thanks for checking in!
Tom…I’m praying for you my friend. I felt your sense of “nothing” as I was reading and was so proud of you as you allowed God to refocus your gaze. Then I turned the affirmation inward.
I’m astounded at how often I measure prosperity in terms of things as opposed to my soul. It would do my heart good to refocus with this in mind every morning during my quiet time.
The older I get I see (in my own life) that God answers my prayer first as a matter of my heart and then He moves outward to my circumstances…it sounds like He’s doing so much in your spirit my friend.
Prayers~Robin
Thank you Robin! Isn’t it nice he doesn’t ask us to bring anything to the table but us and our faith in Him. Thankful my friend that we can offer ourselves upon His alter and just give Him all. He in turn gives us more than we can imagine. Thankful for you and your prayers and thankful He does answer. He is doing something and one day I will be look back and say Oh, that’s what you were doing, ha!
Tom,
After I read this last comment of yours, I pictured us bringing all that we are to a table, and The Lord was there waiting. After we laid ourselves down, so to speak, He began to inspect us, modify us, roll us over and over in His hands, and make us new and improved. He is careful with us, gentle with us, and it delights Him to minister to our very souls with all the care and concern a true Father and Creator can exhibit.
We really are like clay in His hands, aren’t we? Our spirits are important to Him and He treats them lovingly and is attentive to us, never causing us damage but always giving us peace. His fingerprints are all over us.
Hey Tom,
I haven’t commented in forever. But every day these posts give me life. I am going into a meeting at 3 with my boss and his assistant. I need prayer. I need TRUTH to be more important than law. And it never has been in 6 years. Will you pray for me at 3?
I will be on my knees for you at 3:00. You are central time correct?? God IS with you and His Spirit will give you the words to speak. He is the truth and He will speak through your heart. Thank you for the priviledge to pray with you!!
I typed in prosper means heart peace as I just heard a TV minister say and your website came up and I have enjoyed reading these posts.Thankyou
Geraldine, you have blessed me today. I give all glory and thanksgiving the the LORD, our God for using this field for His seeds AND for your finding affirmations of God. Thank you for taking the time to confirm and encourage. I pray you are blessed and the LORD shows you the fullness of the prosperity of your soul. Please don’t be a stranger as you are always welcomed here:)
I pray beloved you may prosper & “be in health even as your soul prospers. does that mean if my health is bad then my soul does not prosper? It seem to say these 2 must be in one accord. I think I know the answer but its confusing to me. thanks for your reply.
Joyce, thank you for stopping by and presenting your question. First of all let me say that I am NOT a theologian by any stretch. I flow with what the Holy Spirit impresses upon my heart the time I am on a verse. I was filled with wonder of having a prosperous soul two years ago when I wrote this piece. For some reason this particular blog has had an increase in views. I will have to go back and see what His living Word says to me today. However, in my simple mind I saw this statement as simply a greeting from the writer to the audience. I did not in any way believe this was a mandate that health and a prosperous soul were in one accord. Just as if I offered you health and prosperity of the soul, I would be praying and wishing you the best. You may find some of the commentaries interesting here- http://biblehub.com/3_john/1-2.htm as I did. I am not a huge believer in debating the fine details of words and translations. I know I am fed by God’s Word and I know that the LORD, our God loves us and wants what is good for us. That includes health and prosperity of the soul. In a fallen world we do not always have this but we ALWAYS have His love which all alone is enough prosperity for my soul; healthy or not. I hope that gives you a very simple perspective of my view. I am sure those much more intelligent than I care to debate such things. However, that is not my interest nor my calling. I pray God’s health and prosperity of your soul and I also hope you will come back and visit again as I enjoyed reflecting back on a moment I was at a couple of years ago. His Word is full of promises of which always prosper my soul with all that I need. Blessings and prosperity.
Thank You for your insight I appreciate you and agree with you, I love the meanings of words and always have, perhaps it gives me a greater understanding for myself, I had not thought of it as debating, only to learn the true meaning, perhaps I should spend more time on listening to the Holy Spirit to teach me. Thanks and the Lord bless you. Joyce
Thanks Joyce and sorry about the debating part:) Now that I have re-read my comment I can see how I sounded like I was insinuating that you were looking for a debate…ha..that is not really what I wanted it to say. I think I was just trying to make the point that I share what He was saying to me that day. I have no doubt that the Holy Spirit teaches and you will love the light he shines on the words you read and love. I am always amazed how He gives different meanings to us when we read the same verses on different days. It is truly the living word and even if I am theologically wrong at times I still get the right message…hope that makes sense. Thank you and please ask any question you ever have as I believe we are here to learn from each other and to spur each other on to know what God is speaking into our lives. Please forgive me for bringing debating into the picture. Many blessings to you too.
No problem-we all learn differently and the Holy Spirit is great at getting the true point across to just when we need it. Our God is so Great, We are Blessed, Thanks for your reply, Be Blessed. Joyce
Amen Joyce, thank you for your grace and confirmation of God’s promises to us. Please continue to share your love of words and your perspectives the Holy Spirit fills you with. Many blessings and thank you for your presence here. We are joined by God’s great love for us. Many blessings as you search His Word.
I believe you are trustworthy in the Lord, and so many aren’t now. Thanks Joyce
Hello Joyce, “smiley7” just brings a smile to my face..love it perfect smiles. Thank you for your kind words. I pray we find our trust and hope in the LORD because none of us are truly trustworthy or good, no not one. The LORD is our hope and we can seek Him together and trust His will to be done. We can trust in that together. Blessings and smiles!
Thank you for the follow, Tom. I hope you enjoy my posts.
