Today’s Scripture: Listen, my son, and be wise, And direct your heart in the way. Proverbs 23:19 NASB
God’s path is different than the path of man. He has taken me down a different path than I intended or expected this morning. My intention was to rewrite a two year old writing about Proverbs 23:7. As a man thinketh in His heart so is he.
This phrase has been hijacked by man and me. There are morsels of truth we can choose to swallow or God’s truths we can digest. God used this term to warn us about following the heart’s of man. Because as the thought in his heart so was he.
In other verses of this same 23rd Proverb we are advised to direct and follow God’s heart. What is in man’s heart is self serving and is on a path of heart break. Yet, if we follow after the heart of God we find what God thinks about in His heart. God’s heart is love, instruction, wisdom and life.
God’s heart, God’s path leads to life eternal and life abundant. Yes, that is the heart I want to follow and think about all day long.
What is your heart seeking right now?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty Father, my heart is drawn to You. Please guide my heart along Your path. Prepare and teach my heart Your ways and guard my heart from the false teachings of selfish men and selfish desires. My heart longs to know You and to remain in You all the day long. Amen.

In one of my readings through Psalms I decided when I hit 119 I would underline all the mentions of the word “heart.” I stopped counting. one of my favorites: “I have stored your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Good reminder Tom of the importance of a heart that follows God.
Wow, great point Bill. Can’t you just feel David’s heart? I percieve a pattern, man’s heart pursues God’s heart and God so fills the pursurer that his heart spills over to the fortunate follower’s along this same path….God is so faithful and His heart is so overwhelming. Blessings my brother!
Thank you so much for this heart post! Ive read several things about our hearts – they are good, follow your heart or our hearts our evil and wicked – so these words blessed me. Praying to give Him my heart so as to be directed by His heart. God bless you, Tom, and your heart for Jesus!
Thank you Debbie! May we turn our hearts towards Him and the strangeness of our heart there be drawn to His heart! Blessings!
Powerful!!! Thank you, Tom!
A man surely is as he thinketh in his heart.
Lord, I pray then that You and I never part.
Make my heart like Yours, clean and pure,
For in Your heart perfect love does endure.
May my thoughts be Yours, Jesus, and my path Your Way.
And may I please You each moment, each hour, each day.
Abundant blessings always, dear brother!!!
Thank you Caroline. LORD, guide our hearts and our ways.
Amen!! Yes, Lord, guide our hearts and our ways – all our days!
Thank you, Tom! Your love for the Lord truly shines!
