Today’s Scripture: Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. John 21:3 ESV
Does it seem odd to you that immediately after Peter had witnessed the risen Christ he said “I am going fishing.”?
Is it equally amazing that none of the other disciples lectured Peter about what he should be doing instead? They simply said “we will go with you”. No super spiritual words, no advice or condemnation. Just a simple I will go with you.
Many times that is all others need from us. They don’t need us to preach to them or have some magical words that will make them feel better. They certainly don’t need us to tell them what they should be doing instead. They just need to know we are going with them.
We need each other. Many times our value to someone else is simply our presence.
Maybe, not so oddly, this is where Jesus appeared to them again. Just maybe if we will simply go with others we will see Jesus appear.
Who needs you to go with them now?
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, thank You for continuing to appear. I am going with others and trusting it is there You will appear to us. Thank You for those who also are willing to go with me. Help us to reflect Your love and Your presence in our willingness to go. Open my eyes and my heart to be available those I am to go with. I know You will be there. Amen
