Today’s Scripture: But he would feed you with the finest of the wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” Psalm 81:16. ESV
Why do we look for anything in this world for satisfaction? Obviously, we are wired by our nature to think this time will be different. Just as in my recovery and the recovery process of millions of others that first wrong move always ends up in a very sad place; ALWAYS.
Likewise in life, looking to the world and anything in it for these things found in Psalm 81: strength, joy, relief, freedom, deliverance, admonishment (yes, even the correction we seek), counsel and direction are all best found in God.
If we submit to God, listen to His counsel and walk in His ways we find His finest. This is not settling; this is finding the finest. Life in God is the finest and truest satisfaction available to us. There is not a better or newer plan.
God is my plan and I am sticking with Him. How about you?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, You are my God. You are my strength and I shout for joy to You, O God of Jacob. I only seek relief, freedom and satisfaction in You. Thank you for giving me Your finest. Forgive me for seeking elsewhere and I am thankful for Your gentle admonishment. I am listening to You God and help me to walk in Your ways. Thank You for satisfying me with Your finest. Amen

Blessings to you Cindy and thank you for the confirmation and encouragement in my inbox here:) Praying now that you experience His finest! Praying now for you and your family and pray the transition is going well!
I LOVE the statement, “This is not settling; this is finding the finest”. All my life it felt like I had to settle for 2nd (or 3rd or 10th) best–while I saw everyone around me getting better (and I’m not even talking about Christians). I felt that I must not be deserving of anything good–but now I know that, with Jesus, the Best is yet to come. Whether that will be here on earth, or when I join Him–I realize that He meant for me to have His Best, always. God bless you today–love, sis Caddo
God Bless you Sis! Yes, the world does it’s best to rob and steal God’s finest from us. May we know God’s definitions and His blessings. God gives us so much more Spiritually and in truth than this world can give in things that rust and fly away. You are certainly one of God’s finest:) BIG. love to you!
Thank you, Tom–you’ve no idea how your reply blessed me today! Happy Friday–and Memorial Day weekend–may God bless you and your family BIG (of course!). love, sis Cj
Your being blessed Sis, fills my heart with joy! I return your wishes of a great weekend and BIG LOVE! Blessings and love my sis:)
Caddo-Jael,
Not sure if you saw my comment to Tom, but I believe that we all feel this way at times. As Tom mentioned, too often we see the finest as being material things. In fact, for this very reason, I almost allowed Satan and my flesh desires to make me a bitter woman.
I was not a patient woman, nor was I producing any other attributes of Christ but as I have grown in my faith, I have witnessed the Holy Spirit’s producing in me the very “finest,” “love, patience, forgiveness, kindness, and goodness….” We are told as we abide in Christ he gives us the finest today, as well as the future rewards.
I have seen some of the poorest people who possess the “finest.” And at the same time, some of those who have gained the world, are still seeking patience, satisfaction, peace, and joy that only Christ can give. When we observe the works of the Spirit in others and ourselves, we can see how fine a gift Christ has given us. I believe we can spend our life waiting and living in the hope of the future reward, and not experience the strength and power to live the abundant life, today.
I have been reading two books by Neil Anderson; Victory Over the Darkness and, The Bondage Breaker. Both are helping me to understand my identity in Christ. Good reads. At the same time, I do want to receive the heavenly rewards. I press on, to hear, “Well, done, my faithful servant.” God bless you in your Christian walk.
Interestingly, I needed this reminder. God is “good, faithful, and gives his children the finest.”
I just received a note from a friend who had contacted me to pray about a new job opportunity several weeks ago. The Holy Spirit spoke to me concerning how this new job location with her present lifestyle would be in direct opposition to her walk with Christ. Because of our relationship I talked with her about these concerns and prayed with her that God would look our for her best interest, and open or close the door, based on his purpose for her life. In the meantime, I challenged her to “seek God with all her heart,” that he would provide for her according to his purpose. That we can trust him to give us what is best.
In spite our praying I could tell by her note that this was just another door slamming in her face. She did not get the job. A shut door is hard even for a spiritually mature believer. This is why we must base our belief system on the Truths of God’s word instead of how we feel at certain moments. I was not sure how this prayer would be answered, but I do know the job would have led her away from God. My faith was reaffirm that God does open and close doors based on what is the “finest.” for us even when we do not see. But my concern is for Mandy.
Please pray for Mandy, that she will hold firm to the Truths of God’s Word, not resort to feelings of doubt, frustration, and despair. Pray for me as I try to contact her by phone and reassure her.
Patsy, thank you for sharing this prayer need and for offering Mandy God’s advice. What wonderful counsel we find in God. This world can strip away or cast doubt when doors are closed. Your advice to trust God and praise Him for closing the door versus doubting ourselves is powerful. I join you now in prayer for Mandy!
Father God, Almighty God, shine Your face upon Mandy and Patsy at this time. Thank You for speaking into Patsy’s spirit the wisdom Mandy will hear. LORD, thank You for granting Patsy the boldness, love and mercy to share what You have given her. Your counsel LORD we cherish and cry out for now. Please open the doors and bring those You desire into Mandy and Patsy’s lives to show Yourself. Please hear our prayers and provide the perfect and finest vocation that You desire for Mandy. Please draw her close and make Yourself known. I thank You for Patsy’s love and care and pray Your Holy Spirit continues to guide her. We pray together to ask these things in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen
Much love and prayer with you Patsy and I am thankful for your boldness to share God’s will with your friend. I pray her eyes and ears are open to God’s will and her faith will be strengthened!
Tom
This was such a needed word for us all, Tom. Thank you so much for reminding us that He gives us His finest as we submit to Him. You have me thinking of that Psalm that says God only does wondrous things. God bless you as you encourage us in our walks with Him!!
