Today’s Scripture: And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear, Isaiah 11:3 ESV
Over 700 years before Jesus’ birth Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would “delight in the fear of the LORD”. Shouldn’t we? Delight ourselves in reverential awe of God’s power and glory. Delighting in who God is gives us more than we can ever give Him.
In chapters 11 and 12 of Isaiah we catch a glimpse of what delighting in the fear of the LORD gives to us. We find glorious rest, salvation, courage, strength, and joy. Singing His praises we find our songs of joy.
Giving thanks to the LORD and telling others about His glorious deeds reminds us that the HOLY ONE is with us. The Spirit of the LORD that rested upon Jesus rests upon us. How wonderful and glorious is that?
Can you delight in fearing the LORD? Have you experienced the joys of fearing Him? Are you singing His praises?
Today’s Prayer: LORD GOD, I delight in fearing You. You are the LORD GOD and I thank You for Your glorious works. Thank You for Your Spirit of love, courage, strength, knowledge and salvation. Thank You for the glorious rest I find in fearing You above all others. I sing Your praises and live Your joy. Thank You for being with me. Amen

When you know who God and who He is, there is no fear in fearing God. Only fear (reverence).

Thanks Bill, absolutely. Our vernacular gives us issues with this word “fear” yet the reverential awe of Him is a blessing. Learning to fear (reverence) Him removes all other fears!

I heard this word last night at a very special faith meeting from a very special minister when I was sharing my questions concerning God’s call/purpose/will for me: “Surrender. Rest in God. Stop striving. ‘Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)'” I just wanted to share as it was a follow-up to God’s affirmation to me from your blog earlier in the day. Happy Memorial Day Weekend to you and yours Tom. Cindy

I love it when we catch a glimpse of God’s confirmation and communication to us! As we surrender to His purposes we find our purpose in Him! Blessings to you too Cindy!
