Today’s Scripture: Proverbs 16:3 NASB: Commit your works to the LORD And your plans will be established.
Another affirmation from this same verse is: I succeed because I commit whatever I do to the LORD. We can expect success. His success and not success defined by the world.
For example, the newer translations of Proverbs 16:3 say if we commit whatever we are doing to the LORD our plans will SUCCEED. The older translations only offered to establish our thoughts and plans. I am sure that any plans the LORD makes will succeed but hang with me here for a second.
Are we falling in love with the succeeding part or the committing part? Has our goal been success or has our goal been to commit all we do to the LORD? Just asking…
So today, right now, we can commit whatever we do to the LORD and trust that He will make our thoughts and plans clear and yes, successful. The LORD’s work will always succeed and we can let Him define success for each of us.
Do you have a specific work you are committing to the LORD?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, I commit my works to You and trust that You are establishing my thoughts and my plans. Be clear with me LORD. Grant me confidence, wisdom and faith that the thoughts You have given me will complete the works You intend for me to do. I trust You to define success and for clarity to complete Your works. Amen

Psalm 37:5 is my go to verse on this Tom. I am having to commit my 2012 sermon series to Him. I have decided not to plan the whole year but maybe just 2-3 months ahead so i can “hear” Him. we also are looking at a renovation of our building and it will take committing it to Him on my part. Love this today.
Thank you Bill for the verse! HE will do it! What wisdom is there to wait and listen and trust. It is harder to wait than to do, isn’t it?!May we trust in His plans and His works…Thanks Bill for sharing and giving legs to specific works! Blessings to you today. BTW, you look much younger than your caricature! I am seeing a different guy in my minds eye now. a much younger man! Blessings!
Thanks Tommy for your words, but for some of us, it is a long uphill battle to finding what we can even begin to call success. – Bobby Tyler
Amen Brother! May we seek His will and the desires He puts on our hearts and trust that His success is not defined by worldly success but to trust that what we do honors and glorifies Him. Praying now that the LORD, teach us His ways and show us His glory. and guarantees us His presence. I just picked up these from Bill’s(cycleguy) blog this morning. He is with us Bobby! Patience is a hard battle but I have found in the long uphill battle is where we find Him if we turn to Him and He will guide us to His success. May we seek Him intentionally and ask Him to be clear! Blessing!
Thank you again, Tom, for another refreshing look at God’s Word!
Yes, let us commit to the LORD all that we do, and let us fall in love with not success but with commitment to HIM!
Beautifully said, and a wonderful reminder!
God bless you, Tom!
Thank you Caroline for stopping by again. Love for Him and His will is so refreshing. Blessings!
Since I first gave my heart to Jesus, I have been praying so hard to be “used” by Him. “Here I Am LORD” was/is in my heart. “Here I Am LORD, Send Me”. Your affirmation, along with your question AND prayer minister to me as I seek HIM and HIS will in my life and am committed to Him, and not what I think He would have me do or what that would look like. I would appreciate a prayer for revelation but also for patience too, so that in my waiting to be “sent” I don’t miss the opportunities right around me…here and now, to spread the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. (John 4:28-29, 39) Thanks Tom, Cindy
Cindy, for so long in my life I waited for a “big” appointment. When I began to pray as you God began to open doors of opportunity for me. It has truly changed my life. I will be praying for God to show you your way of ministry. Have you read Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson or Kingdom Growth by Ken Hemphill? God used both these books to speak into my life.
Hi Patsy! First of all I just want to say “Thank You” sister, for responding to me…sharing with me. Your words of encouragement and wisdom mean a great deal! I actually have read the Prayer of Jabez…about 2 years ago. Maybe I should read it again? 🙂 I have not read Kingdom Growth though, so that’s next on my list. (I am reading The Power of a Praying Woman right now and am forcing myself JUST to take one chapter at a time…you know how that is?) Let me end with saying that I TRULY appreciate your prayers!!! Whatever God gives me to do, big or small, I just want to hear Him say to me: “Well done my good and faithful servant!” You and yours are also in my prayers. God continue to bless you Patsy!
Cindy, I would love to pray for you and all of us that we know completely His will. Do you think that what He gifts us with becomes US so much that we don’t sense we are being sent but in reality we have been sent to where we are?…My experience with you is that you are very encouraging in Him and I know for one He has used you to bless me. LORD, I pray for Cindy now that You reveal Yourself clearly to her. That You will establish Your plans through her. Please reward Cindy’s commitment and give her patience as you continue to prepare her way and use her where she is. Thank You for her encouraging heart and I pray you use her and us as You intend. In Your mighty name we pray.
Tom—thank you! For the prayer…immediate and sincere, and your insight and wisdom. I value them both. I thank Holy Spirit for the day He had me “stumble” upon Affirmations of God. As always, you and yours are in my prayers. God bless you Tom.
Cindy, I am thankful you found this little space too! I will continue to pray that we are continually alert to God’s call and direction. Look forward to seeing what He is doing here! God bless you!
This is an awesome verse! It kinda goes right along with Proverbs 16:9:
“In the heart a man plans his course, but it is the Lord who determines his steps.”
Thanks B for dropping by and sharing the scripture!
Thanks Tom. Too long in my prayer life, I prayed to God about my plans and that he would bless them. If we seek to pray more as your prayer that, we seek God’s ways and as we do leads us. Proverbs tells us, Man chooses his path but God directs his steps. When we give God free will over our lives we can trust that he is leading and directing us. Isn’t this so reassuring.
Thanks Patsy. Absolutely, I pray to recognize and know His path and not expect a new path, although willing to travel it. I choose His path too and pray He directs our steps. I pray His purposes and His path is ours. Thank you for stopping by and commenting and offering your wisdom and giving heart to Cindy and all of us. Blessings to you and yours! I pray your ministry and your son’s ministry is being blessed.
