Today’s Scripture: Proverbs 2:5 NIV: then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
Then is the next step yet also shows the requirement of prior steps. Do you want to understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God? If so, then Proverbs 2:1-2:4 have given us the steps. I believe that if we follow these steps we will have what He promises. I know I have been stuck on these verses for a week now but is that too much to ask?
This may be silly but the acrostic I have used since I first ran across this verse has been:
Really
Trust
In
A
Christ
Loving
Silly
Sinners
In review, may we remember these steps and believe His promise. The steps:
R= Receive His Words
T= Treasure His commands
I= Incline our ear to Wisdom
A= Apply our heart to understanding
C= Cry out for discernment
L= Lift up our voice for understanding
S= Seek Wisdom as silver
S= Search for Wisdom as hidden treasure
THEN, we will have the understanding of the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. I believe God. Do you?
Today’s Prayer: I praise You LORD and trust You to reveal Your understanding and Your knowledge. Help me to seek after You and Your Wisdom. I am crying out to You and lifting my voice to You now. I believe in You and Your promises Father God and ask for Your strength and Your will to be revealed. Amen

I like your trick for remembering the steps. I used this method many times when I was in college to remember information that I was studying. When we try to understand with the help of the Holy Spirit, the Word is revealed to us. I think of these verses:
“But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.” 1 Corinthians 2:10-12 (NLT)
Be Blessed Tom and have a wonderful week with God!

Thanks Kimberly! Yes, when I first came across these verses some ten years ago or so I just loved the step by step direction we were given. I didn’t want to forget it and I came up with the little trick to bring it back. I am amazed that it still comes back to me…since I hardly can remember what happened yesterday!! God is Good and I am thankful for His Spirit. Happy Thanksgiving..after reading your blog this morning I am sure your home will be filled with the wonderful aroma’s of thanksgiving! Plus you made me hungry, ha! Blessings!

I think it is so much more important to believe God than to believe in God. Good point made Tom.

I’m so glad I found your blog this morning! As I read the step by step direction above, I reflected on how I’m handling an important decision that needs to be made in my life right now. I reflected on how I’ve been praying with God about it and how I’ve had my Bible open at least twice a day searching for His wisdom and the peace that comes from seeking the Lord. By the steps you wrote above, its feels good to reaffirm that the Holy Spirit is leading me but what’s nicer is that I’m actually following His lead and going about this in the right manner. May God bless you today and happy holidays!
