Today’s Scripture: And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, Luke 2:27 ESV
As I descended my basement stairs this morning I anticipated what God would speak to me this morning. I have been feeling it was probably time to move on from my fixation on Simeon.
Did I get the point of why God drew me to the story of Simeon? What is the one thing I thought to myself and the next thought was that God wants us to know we are the one.
We may be the only one who lifts a friend in prayer today. We may say or write something that touches the one person who needs it. We may be the one person called to serve God’s purpose of refreshing or reviving someone with His Spirit today.
This was Simeon’s one thing and he showed up. He came, in the Spirit into the temple. The Spirit made him know it was up to him that day to be there and he was faithful. I truly believe you and I are no different. I pray our hearts, souls and minds are in love with God and His Spirit clearly calls us.
Different callings, different purposes but we are the one. God created us in the womb for His purpose and without ceasing we are being prepared. We are also being used to prepare, to encourage, to confirm, and to help. It is up to us; no one else.
What do you know you must do today? You may be the only one.
Today’s Prayer: All glory belongs to You Father God. Thank You for Your Word and for the life and actions of Simeon. I pray we also clearly understand Your Spirit that is upon us. That we realize the importance and responsibility You have given us. Help me to be faithful to the one thing You want from me today. Thank You for Your daily bread of life and opportunity. Make me faithful. Amen

Christian Affirmations 4 Life

Good Morning Tom! Normally when I read your post…the affirmation from The Word, your questions, and prayer, I reflect on MY life. But these last few months I have been facing some giants…from within and without, and so I think about those that have been “the one” for ME. Those who have encouraged me…loved me…and yes, confronted me through it…reminding me of God’s love, mercy, faithfulness, grace. I am thankful they had an open and obedient spirit to Holy Spirit’s leading, for I am one to whom it made all the difference. I thank you, and God for you; I count you in that number of brothers/sisters in Christ who have shown up, and whom God has used in my life. You and yours are in my daily prayers: abundant blessings, continued revelation, peace that surpasses understanding and joy unspeakable.
I am humbled by your kind words. You have a gift of encouragement I am thankful you have those who encourage you in return. With the encouragement of others and upon the power of God I pray you can run towards your Giants knowing that you are equipped by the Almighty. I am soooo thankful to be considered as your brother and I am so thankful that God has brought us together here. I promise you that He uses you for me. I am praying now and will continue to pray that those giants you face will be fall before the power and strength of God. God will use you as David to slay the giants.
I try to start each day asking God “Where do you want me to go today, what are ‘we’ doing Lord?” I don’t always but the days I do, I know that I am keeping things in perspective. He uses me even when I don’t ask but I’m not anticipating as much as when I do ask. Sometimes, I will think, “Oh, well that happened because it was God’s design.”
Thank you for reminding me, Tom. Sorry, I’ve been lax in reading & commenting. Life has been very full lately!
It brings this verse to mind: “When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into?” Romans 9:21 (NLT)
He can use us even if we are a ‘trash can!’ We each have a purpose.
Kimberly, I too love meeting God and seeking with all we have to know what “we” are doing together. Thank you for the verse! Taking on the trash of others is a gift! Blessings! I am thankful you can stop by when you can! I do miss you when you are absent but do understand busyness!!
Kimberly, I read Tom’s post this morning and immediately was led to write one of my own. I also was drawn to the Romans text. I left my computer and was not able to get back till now, to respond to this post and then I was your response. Sometimes I compare my opportunities to those like Beth Moore and/or John Piper and I feel pretty small. The Romans text reminds me that if I am designed to be a cup and you a pitcher then we both must fill our task or the job will not be complete. Then the verse from Matthew 25:23 came to me, if we are faithful and obedient with what God has entrusted us, then he will put us in charge of greater things. Tom thanks for taking the opportunity to speak truth into our lives.
Thanks Patsy!! Great or smaill… to only be faithful. I can relate to what you say and pray we do what we do for Him and trust that He uses us for our part…Mighty God use us and help us do our part for Your glory and for Your magnification! Thanks for Contributing Patsy and reminding us of th importance of what ever part we have been given!! Blessings!
Patsy – yes, I agree, we need to be faithful in the small things. We also need to remember great gifts require great responsibilities. (Luke 12:48) Like Tom said to be faithful. I love how the Holy Spirit directs us to the same word. Be Blessed!
Thanks ladies! Yes, Kimberly..love it how the Spirit works and confirms!
Just read Patsy’s post about your post Tom! I had to come over and catch up! I love the prayer asking God to help me to be faithful to one thing that God wants me to do today…
Thanks Robin! Glad you could come back and visit! Patsy is special!
