Today’s Scripture: Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes, 1 Corinthians 1:1 ESV
The specific words in the introductions of Paul’s and other letters to the early churches are intriguing. They hit the core of how we are to present ourselves. We are called by the will of God to do the will of God.
God will provide the gifts to us to fulfill His will. Can you believe we have been called to partner with the Christ? 1 Corinthians 1:9 God faithfully keeps his promises. He called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. (GWT)
Like Paul, we can be humbled here and relish the fact that we are inept and inadequate to present this good news. In our inadequacies we show that the power can not be in us. 1 Corinthians 1:21 Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. Do we get that? In the brilliance of God He shows that we do not possess the wisdom to make the world know Him. But, we are called to believe and act in the best way we can. Our weaknesses prove His strength. May we embrace our weaknesses and confidently partner up with the Almighty. Are you being called?
Today’s Prayer: Mighty God, thank You for Your wisdom and the calling of Your will. Draw me LORD to Your will and use my fumbling and imperfect abilities to prove Your power. I believe in You God and pray I partner with Jesus to share the good news of the cross. May my lack of wisdom only serve to show Your wisdom and help others to believe. Thank you for your power and your strength. Amen
