Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV- But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
This verse follows Paul confessing his thorns in the flesh. Although God had taken him to heaven he still confessed his inability to understand or share. All of his experiences have brought him to this place of the sufficiency of grace.
We all have thorns in the flesh if we will be honest. I am speaking to you today out of my weaknesses of addiction and sin. I am boasting of my weaknesses because it is here that the power of Christ comes to rest upon me. Just as we find encouragement that Paul found Christ’s power in His weakness we can share this same experience with others. Just as Paul we will always be humbled by our own thorns. I find freedom that I cannot judge others as my own thorns stare me in the face.
The Lord’s grace truly is sufficient for me and it isn’t added to or subtracted by my ability to handle my thorns. I have been forgiven much and I will boast of God’s grace and my weakness. Because of my weaknesses, I have seen how God’s power is made perfect.
Do you truly believe that the Lord’s grace is sufficient for you? Have you found the power of Christ in your weaknesses?
Today’s Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your grace. I cherish Your grace and welcome Your power. I will continue to ask you to take my thorns yet I will also trust Your power and grace that is sufficient for me. I thank You for Your perfect power that is revealed through my weaknesses. Rest upon me Lord. In You I am complete. Amen
