This Affirmation of God comes from Psalm 73:26 where Asaph says:
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever. (AMP)
I really like the New Living Translation:
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.
Please read Psalm 73. The writer Asaph (Google him and see who this little known writer is, very interesting.)
But as for me, I came so close to the edge of the cliff! My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. Have you ever been there? This was a statement by Asaph in Psalm 73:1 (NLT)
So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper. But what a difficult task it is! Have you ever wondered why the wicked seem to still be successful? Obviously Asaph did here in Psalm 73:16
Real questions and real life does take us to the edge of the cliff many times. We find ourselves in places where we finally realize I can NOT do this within my own mind and strength. We realize we can not rely on our own power or our own strength.
What fantastic news that we have an all powerful God who is our strength. We make the decision to turn from relying on our own strength to seeking our strength in God. For many of us celebrating recovery this has been the greatest blessing of our lives! After all, relying on our own power and strength is what gets us to the cliff anyway, isn’t it?
When we have exhausted our resources, realized we can not do it on our own it is there that we find the awesome power of God. I praise God for His power. He is my rock and my strength and He is mine forever!
- After reading Psalm 73 can you relate to Asaph?
- Have you ever reached the point where you realized you could not understand or could not do something on your own strength?
- Do you have a testimony of where God’s strength was revealed in your life?
Like Asaph when I tired of trying to figure life out and decided to trust God my heart found rest and peace. Yes it found power. God’s power; I praise Him for He is mighty. How about you?

Christian Affirmations 4 Life

Tom: there is so much about life and about the Scriptures that I don’t understand. I took the easy way out and stopped trying to figure everything out and decided to take it one step at a time. I will live my life with my Rock & Strength and will trust Him. When the time comes He will “reveal” His words and meaning to me. May be a naive approach to life but it keeps me from trying to solve every problem that comes down the pike and doing God’s job. 🙂 Have a blessed day!
Thank you Bill. I find so much comfort that a man of God such as yourself is humble enough to admit how utterly weak we are without God. It’s ok for me to be weak. The world has a tendency to put expectations that are traps for our pride. Thank you for being so supportive to take a moment to visit this space God is giving me. I am grateful!
