Today’s Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:11, KJV- “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.”
Do you think God speaks to you? At times do you wonder if that still small voice is your own? I often recall one such morning almost 15 years ago. It was a Monday morning and after my prayer time I sat at my desk to search God’s word.
I paused briefly to ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. The word Ecclesiastes “popped” into my head. I argued with myself. Tom do not listen to your head; you are making this up.
How often do you just come up with “Ecclesiastes” in your mind? Oreo cookies or ice cream maybe, but Ecclesiastes? So I turned and began reading Ecclesiastes 1 at www.biblehub.com and God soon revealed to me it was Him and at times tears welled up in my eyes at His greatness. I am thankful that Solomon, the son of King David and the wisest and wealthiest king of all times wrote Ecclesiastes for us from God’s inspiration.
On that particular day when God spoke Ecclesiastes to me, I was giving my testimony at a Celebrate Recovery group. I now believe God’s Holy Spirit communicated this message to me to encourage my fellow recovering brothers and sisters the promise of Ecclesiastes 3:11 that “God has made everything beautiful for His own time”? Be patient and trust that He has already made our lives beautiful. My testimony is that my alcoholism brought me to my knees and on my knees, God gave me a passion for Him and His Word that blesses me with the gift of finding His affirmations.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says there is a season for everything and in 3:3 we are told there is a time to heal. I continue to believe that this is God’s message to us. I have experienced and witnessed God’s beauty in some very unexpected and unimaginable places. I have come to trust that God does make EVERYTHING beautiful and that includes our lives in His time. Our seasons help shape our beauty that gives us hope and purpose to help others experience the eternity God has placed in our hearts.
Strangely, I have written on this on Ecclesiastes 3:11 seven or eight times over the past fifteen years and today is the first time I have noticed that the King James Version uses the term “in his time” instead of the term “in its time” used by most modern translations. I cannot imagine or find out what God is doing but I can have faith in Him, His beauty, and His timing.
Will you trust that God is making everything beautiful in His time?
Today’s Prayer: Holy Father, thank You for Your Word both spoken and written. Thank you for speaking to our hearts. Thank You for directing us with Your light and Your voice in the darkness. Thank you for taking what was dark and making it beautiful. Use our stories Father to give hope and to share the joy You have given us to occupy our hearts for all eternity. Amen.
